This arrived yesterday:
First off, I would like to give a huge shout out to Rege for all his help getting this guitar to me. Without his assistance and patience / determination, it would still be sitting in New Jersey. So massive thanks to Rege
The guitar's an '88 - I have no idea how many of these graphics were done, but I don't recall seeing a soloist with the graphic before. From the oversize ring, it obviously had a Jackson pickup in it originally, and with 3 pots, there would have been some sort of preamp. But that's long gone and it now has an EMG 85 wired vol/tone. The previous owner installed a Kahler string lock which was a direct swap but kept the JT6 string lock in the case.
The guitar is in pretty damn good condition, but it's definitely been played. I know a few other 22 year olds with more mileage The back of the body has quite a lot of buckle rash / worming, and a small piece at the back of the tip of the headstock has been knocked off, but thankfully, that's invisible from the front. Fortunately, the neck itself is amazingly clean - it's like the area from nut to heel (the leg? LOL) is virtually like a brand new guitar.
Pretty much the first thing I did was some cleaning - I removed all the hardware and sprayed it with WD40 and then let it sit while I masked the board, polished the frets with fine wire wool and then oiled the board. Then the guitar got a thorough polish before reassembly.
I'm leaving it to 'dry off' / settle before I get into playing it properly, but I have high hopes. Even with a JT6
