  • How much would you pay for a 1988 Jackson Strat in Ferrari Red

    H-S-S
    Rosewood with dots
    Smooth oiled neck
JT-590 (my guess is that it came with a JT6)
Missing truss rod cover and trem cover plate on back
Original Jackson pickups. Oversized bridge hum.
    GC wants $499

    Good deal or not?

Sounds like the right pricing to me. Have you had a chance to play it?

I think I'd grab it if I found it at that price, honestly.

That's a decent price for that, assuming it plays nicely.

Yeah, seems like a pretty fair price if it's in good condition and plays nice.

Definitely the low end of the price range, plus you have the warm fuzzy feeling of dealing with the GC instead of Some Random Guy from Some Random State.

Ok guys, if it's still there the next time I visit I'll pick it up. I didn't try playing it because I was in a rush. The neck was very smooth, the area on the neck where the floyd nut goes through the neck had stress cracks. The JT590 was almost on top of the body, if not on the body, so no pull up, dives only. Still had the JT6 posts that limit travel.

Cool, if you pick it up can you post some pics?

I looked it up on GC last night.
I'd grab it if you like the specs, looks to be in pretty good shape and that's a good price.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

There you go - that's it. I'm guitared out, no room. Someone else grab it. The neck is extremely smooth for those of you who hate painted necks, but there are some stress cracks by the floyd nut which is not a top mount.

I will say cracks by the locknut are a big turnoff for me.

Even if it is stable, cracks at the top of the neck put me off too.

I'm guess that trem and tone knob are not original. Possibly the Floyd nut, too. Depending on condition, still not a bad grab, though.

Assuming the nut cracks are stable, no biggee. Very common. If that's an aftermarket nut job (hah!), though, buyer beware.
