  • Building Custom shop KV, soloist, RR???

Hey guys sorry for posting a new threah again but im going 2 be placing the order for 2 jackson custom shop 7 strings. I think im going to go with one KV and one soloist or RR.......

If I do go with the soloist I am going to want the lower horn cut out similar to the Rustey Cooley JC or even his newer deans....anyone know what this would be labled as on the custom shop form or how to phrase it? Any advice on what wood to get? I was looking at either mahogany or Korina..

Also im going to be getting some custom graphics from Mike learns....any themes or colorways that havent been done on some of the CS before that you guys would like to see????? Would it be over doing it if I got a RR V white/black or black/white polka dot? Iver never seen this made as a 7 string but not sure if people would be offended since Randy never played a 7.

So many options to choose from but who better to get advice then the Jackson/Charvel owners here on the board

Dude, my advice is find a finish you like, it would be a bit silly to go with finishes other people want, just look around for artwork and see if you like it enough.
    Gear

    Jackson DXMG
    Jackson JS30RR
    Boss ML2 Metalcore Pedal
    Dunlop GCB-95 Crybaby
    Blackstar HT5H
    Marshall MC212

    Gear I want

    Jackson RR1T Black
    Marshall JCM 800 2203
    Marshall 1960A Cab

Offended because Randy never played 7s ? what the hell !? > Don't care !!!

This is something I absolutely hate, never trying to "improve" things. For example, I'd like a Les Paul shaped guitar with 24 frets, a floyd and neck-through construction. Nearly impossible to find because people say "Les Pauls have glued necks, 22 fets and a fixed bridge", completely UNABLE to only imagine to make something NEW.

Example : And the guys who created the RR24 understood exactly what I said : RRs are metal guitars, but since the early 80s, players have changed and seek for 24 fretted guitars. Maybe you'll make a custom that will give them a nice idea, "what about building 7-string RR's ?" and WHAM on the 2011 Jackson website we might find a 7s RR.

You want something, the definition of Custom Shop is "do whatever you want", so fuck it, get yourself a 9 string with 32 frets and pink polka dots on a yellow finish if you want to, it's YOUR guitar so YOU have to decide what YOU want. Don't pay a guitar according to other people's wishes, the others won't pay it nor play it (pun not intended ^^).

Here's what I would say... If you're already sure to get the KV, I would go with a soloist because having two Vs at once would be monotonous FOR ME. On the other hand I'm not into KVs so I'd go with RR + SL, but it's your choice.

If you want to polka dots as a Randy Rhoads tribute, go ahead and effing put them on a 7 string. To me this means "I play brutal downtuned shit and I still love Randy", it would be great IMO. Much greater than a 7 string Meshuggah tribute juste because these guys started the 7s. Cause if you make a 7 string à la Rhoads, it brings his legacy to a new level. Here's how I see it.

Now whatever you choose as customs, I'll be curious (especially for the ML graphics) so... once you have them > PICS !!!

        Dude,

There's a nice new BCR 7 string neck thru V for $599 at my GC. I don't know how a new guitar could be so cheap. Maybe you should start cheap and try it out before finding out you don't like it?

Oy Veh! Sandoval, I am not going to bad mouth the guy on a public forum but I would not buy a one off 7 string V from him, he has a hard enough time getting the regular 6 string V correct, even after all these years.

If you order a Jackson CS, just be prepared for them to fuck one of the specs up on the order.

Dude, ever think you just have shit luck with Custom orders? Does Burger King put onions on your burger when you ask for no onions?

Not trying to be a douche, but some people just don't have luck with getting things done their way - and you seem to be overstocked in that department.
Bad Karma or something, I dunno, but dude, you always seem to end up with the short end of the stick.

He makes a decent V but if you are expecting a exact copy go else where, as for the price, that is all set by whatever mood he is in, lets not forget the many #1 serialed V's out there.

GMW is best bang for the buck.

I guess my loyalty is split between GMW and Jackson. I've been a Jackson fan for waaaaay to long to leave them behind, but there's no getting away from the fact that GMW are great value for money. However, as with Jackson, there are limitations as to what Lee will do. He has two 7strings in stock, but my understanding is that those are the last.

I've yet to see a nice paisley finish on a 7 string Rhoads. That would be unique.
