  • My 2003 Jackson SL1 Refinish

    028.jpg047.jpg004.jpg007.jpg005.jpg
i started a new project this weekend i have a usa select series SL1 the guy i traded it from had dropped it, threw it, and more than anything made it look like complete chaos. I dont know about you but i hate banged up guitars but i love older Jackson and charvels. So the left side looking at the guitar was missing paint and had wood splintering that was the major ding the rest were just finish dents at least 5 just on the body. The guitar is originally black which i have no problem with.
Im one of those kinda people who dont lkike messing guitars up but i couldnt let it stay like it was. Sorry the pictures went up backwards and i didnt have any good pictures of it before it went into the shop. But the guitar will be done in my own type of eerie dess

And what do the AT Soloist and 750 have to do with the SL1 refin? Further, do you really think a 2003 SL1 is old?

You have a lot more stripping to do.

That picture was from this weekend. it's completely stripped now and at the painters all the dings are filled in and ready to go. It's insane how much cleat coat was used. I'm surprised the guitar sounded as good as it did. Any body have any suggestions on color. I've really liked the eerie dess talked to him about doing it but with a dark shade of purple, blue, turquoise he said no problem and showed me the descent colors he has used before but I'm also a big Dan of the fire crackle to but shoot me some ideas

I'm also a big Dan of fire crackle. You could get the dragon cock paint job done lol. Personally, i say go sacriledge and get it swirled alla Ibanez.

Well, since you're asking for opinions then I would go with a solid color. I would love to see a BRIGHT orange one, like late 80's neon colors or maybe Chevy orange.
Charvel 7308 (TMZ 008), Charvel Pro-mod (yellow), Jackson Soloist Custom (Yellow), Jackson SL2H-V Natural, Gibson LPS DB, Gibson LPS EB, Gibson LPCC C, Charvel Model 2 (scalloped), Jackson DK2M (white), Charvel Journeyman, Fender Classic Player 60's strat, Carvin C66, Musikraft strat mutt, Warmoth Strat mutt, Fender MIM Jazz bass, Epiphone Classical, Takamine parlor. Marshall 2203, Marshall JVM 210H, Splawn Nitro, Fender Supersonic 22, Line 6 AX2 212, Marshall 4X12.

Powder blue, Ferrari red, or bubblegum pink.

                        F' that.

                        HEMI orange

You won't get and complaints about Fire Crackle from me. One of my favorite finishes.

I also like Bengals, Snakeskins, and Lightning Skies, and just about any other cool graphic.

                        Solid colors are boring.

This is a JACKSON. Not a Fender

I agree, the correct orange would be Hemi orange not Chevy orange If you're not going with one solid color or a graphic, I would suggest something from PPG's Harlequin line or BASF or Dupont's line of color shifting hues. I'm a big fan of those which look different colors from different viewing angles. Of course, you score bonus points if you incorporate purple as one of those colors
