The trem configuration doesn't matter that much. Most everyone playing here is probably using the three spring "triangle" configuration though.
One item of note is that the bridge humbucker on your soloist is oversized (the original one), order a conversion ring from FOTN and it would look alot nicer.
Honestly, any 80s soloist I buy I would be looking at replacing all the hardward-electronics anyways. Not right off the bat if it works, but peak performance can usually be achieved better with modern aftermarket parts. I'd just sell the electronics you have in there now to offset the cost abit and pop in EMG 81x/SAx/SAx, which is a great combo with the maple/ebony/poplar of that guitar. Obviously there are other great combos, I'd venture to say the bridge pickup in there is probably a superdistortion/super 3/tonezone. Those are also all good pickups. If the hardware works fine I'd keep it one there until you can get better stuff. Pretty much have to factor all that into the cost when you are buying one. Hell, you usually have to anticipate the possibility of fretwork, but that looks like it will clean up pretty nice with minimal polishing.

Thanks Rogue. I checked the back of the bridge PU, it is a Seymour Duncan, and has some lettering including "BJ" somewhere in it. (not JB).
Electronics are in great shape. Is the coil split a standard option? I see the original PU has 4 leads, so it was probably wired for coil splitting as well from factory?
The frets show a little corrosion, but these are jumbo frets and hardly any wear.

Cool guitar - I was kind of pissed at that seller as I asked him if he'd do a BIN and he said they always waited for the auction to end. And then 3 hours later it's gone...Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

I guess you got that off of ebay, because I troll craigslist and never see anything that cool locally. Some guy in Eastgate puts up some cool USA BC Rich and Jackson guitars from time to time.Last edited by DonP; 11-05-2010, 11:10 AM.

And don't buy into that "Jackson Pickups Suck" b.s. I have quite a few (old school USA ones) and like them a lot. And those singles are HIGHLY regarded. People forget that Fender's top winder Abigail Y. was laid off by Fender back in the 80s and worked at Jackson's pickup shop winding these pickups. Of course Fender nabbed her back and now she works Fender's custom shop.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I actually saw it listed on his personal store site, not eBay... but yes he told me he had it listed, and I had offered him my price, and he took it. Very nice guy actually.
