OK I did a close comparison between a photo of an Adrian Smith and a Jackson Strat, both resized to the same scale. The Adrian Smith is clearly a full size Strat. However, the Music Zoo and Guitar Center call it a "Dinky". Jackson also refers to it a "San Dimas DK"...and everyone knows DK's (i.e. the DK1 and DK2) are dinky's. Confusing?

What's so dinky about an Adrian Smith??

that is quite perplexing.. i've always wondered why they called it a dinky when it seemed so much more like a strat to me.. the specs in question do match up, so i'm not sure. if they call it a DK merely because it's a bolt on and it's not a Charvel, that's shameful. Maybe they just thought if they threw on a "DK" it'd look less like a Charvel with a "Jackson" thrown on the headstock...?I don't trust anybody who doesn't like Led Zeppelin.

Yeah, I think it is just because Jackson didn't want to have a "whole other category" for one damn guitar. If you look at jacksonguitars.com, the Dinky category is all of the bolt-on Strat-style guitars (which all happen to be Dinkys) and then there's the Soloist.
Rather than stick the AS sig on its own as a whole separate "Strat" category they just fudged and called it a Dinky.
It's a full-size Strat, I'm sure of it.

Well if you look at the catalogs from the 80's, they clearly differentiated between Dinkys and Strats.

I think of it as a San Dimas. Jackson has been using that designation on all of its full-sized Strat bodied guitars lately. The DK designation of course is misleading.-------------------------

Adrian Smith Dinky
I just got one of these. The difference between this body and my Jeff Beck strat is the body radius. The edges on the strat are rounder and not as sharp. The Adrian Smith body is exactly like the Charvel. I agree that this is not a true dinky. I had 3 custom guitars made in 87 & 88 that were a smaller body with a sharp body edge. These were the same bodies that were used on the tobacco burst Charvel Ltd Ed's in 88. They were awesome dinkys and can be seen on the Jackson website in the catalog archives.
