Jackson USA raising prices?

So, I'm looking at Sweetwater, and it appears their prices have gone up a bit for the USA Jacksons.

$1999 for a solid color SL1 or SL2H, $2749 for EDS...

Anyone know anything about this? Everyone else is still at the "usual" prices of $1799 and $2399.

I noticed that too, Sweetwater raised their prices on most of their Jackson stock including imports except the JS series. Some of their solid color USA pointies like KE2 and KV2 went from $2100 to $2700, that's more than 25% hike up!
Last week AmericanMusicSupply made a similar raise on select Jacksons, but their stock is small in comparison. Musician's Friend's prices are still intact and didn't change as of yet!

USA Jacksons are hard to get as is, and with this ridiculous price increase it's going to be even a lot more painful!

Honestly... If they lower volume, charge a few bucks more, and improve overall quality (smash the duds) I'm all for it. I've been saying that for a while, there is a lot of guitar there for $1800, compared to what other "USA Made" companies charge for their luthier-made ebony/binding/premium parts guitars. :dunno:

However if they charge $200+ extra for the same old thing I'm pretty sure I think it's bullshit.

Word... if for 200 more you never see a brown, washed out dry, or loose grained ebony board. Never see crooked routing, or inlays popping out (came on a razzburst? DK1 I ordered) and you could order a USA jackson and just have it be awesome, like PRS back in the day, fuck yeah I'm down... But as it stands, I'll never in my life blindly order a New USA Jackson because so many from the last few years are so hit or miss.

At this point, from what I've seen, I'd be more confident blindly ordering an import just because the consistency is there

The thing is, if it's only $200, I can eat it and live with it as long as I'm getting the guitar that I'll adore for many years to come, but for $600 on solid colors like Agent Orange or Absinthe Frost, that's just freakin insane! Might as well just buy two high-end imports for less than one USA model!... And like Brian has mentioned, not much has been done to the USA Select over the past few years, and the options are kinda horrid as well, no quilted maple tops and chrome on trans finishes, what's up with that?...

I agree that the USA select line is "the old neglected dog". it really is. They have reduced the solid colors to some shitty options, not introduced any new trans colors, and raised prices. I dont get it. its a great line, but they just let it sit there. I mean damn, how do they expect to make it grow if they dont put any effort into it? think about this......they pump out the 4 to 5K NAMM stuff for the show, fine and dandy, but who can afford it? I mean its fine build brand enthusiasm, but they need to embrace the line that people will actually buy. the high end stores basically only want to stock custom shop stuff, and imports. they dont carry much USA stock, if any. Drum City dont stock ANY USA's anymore. so its a bummer.

I would wait for the 2011 price list to come out before you start freaking out based on 2 dealers raising their prices. Granted I don't think the prices should go up significantly but I wouldn't be shocked to see some kind of a price increase. The economy hasn't made much in the way of recovery and all energy/transportation costs for all supplies have gone up. When you aren't making cash through volume, you have to do it the old fashioned way with margin. All you guys sitting on a bunch of Jacksons shouldn't be bitching, because it's going to increase your resale values.

Well, probably Jackson eventually needs to adapt Carvin's policy by selling direct and drop the "middle guy" in order to cut on costs on both ends, thus expanding on their USA and Custom Shop lines with decent price tags that fans/collectors could afford. I guess many of us here will be pleased with this direction, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

And I need to bitch because I buy guitars so I can enjoy them, not resell them!

I have 2 PRSi. A 2009 Custom 24 and a 2008 Mira, and both of them far surpass the quality of ANY Jackson I have ever played.

I cant believe they sell enough Carvins that direct way. I just dont think that its a very effective marketing idea to cut out the dealers. I would be curious to know actually how many guitars carvin sells. I know they sell alot of PA gear, but guitars...... I dont know.
