I'm not sure either. And there is nowhere to try one out... Well, there's really not many places to try out a USA Jackson, either.

I think Carvin's doing pretty good business - the Carved Top models have been selling like hotcakes judging by how many people I've seen online with them.Dreaded Silence - Boston Melancholic Metal

Yeah, I guess what I'm saying is, it's a crapshoot either way since no one ever has one (and rarely what you want even if they do.)
I mean, you can find all the Jackson Soloists you want at a whole bunch of places, as long as you want black, or metallic black, and they aren't temporarily out of stock.

Anyhow, Jackson can keep their dealers for their imports for all I care and let Fender handle that segment, and it seems like that most dealers these days carry either those and/or the high-end custom shop anyways, leaving the USA's abandoned facing their unknown fate...
So, if Jackson does a direct business for their USAs and Custom Shop, probably they'll end up retaining most that good quality/hype they were known for with a lesser overhead to worry about. I can see things gauging between $1300-$2000 for the USAs with a variety of options to chose from including a selection of graphics, and $2000-$3000+ for custom graphic guitars, and all the other wild shapes for a little extra. I don't know, I'm not a guitar business buff however I don't see why it cannot be done? (taking all the legal issues aside of course)...-Metal wouldn't be the same without Pointy guitars-

I know man, My 2001 Custom 24 blows the shit out of even my Custom Shop Jackson's, let alone the USA's, in terms of build quality and fit and finish... I was really disappointed at first.
@PS43203: Jacksons have floyd's (well so to PRS's if you want to shell out 10k for a Private stock, all customs have a starting MSRP of 10K). P.S. your basically asking a guy on a Corvette forum who happened to say Ferrari's/Lamborghini's/Maserati's are the shit, "why post here then" lol... Its cuz CS jacksons are the price of factory PRS's... Jackson's, Like corvette's, are sweet in the grand scheme of things, but they are no PRS, the Exotic Import in this analogy.Wish I could add Pics to this thing!!

May be inappropriate,but I can't resist:
With Blackouts(big mistake, you don't do that to a guitar like this, first year artist package)

I disagree, I have a 2001 Jackson SLAT-QM that plays way better than any of my PRS Guitars, I have a 1995 PRS Custom 22, 2001 PRS Artist Series Singlecut, 2008 PRS Singlecut, 2008 PRS Custom 24 & a 2009 PRS Singlecut. Of course it is opinion but it is my opinion!
By the way, you are aware your not on the PRS forum right? :ROTF:

That's not all... That trans White Rotrod Ghostflames I ordered last winter, showed up with the frets hanging over the binding almost 1/20th of an inch, both sides, every fret!!! I spent hours re-filing the edges, and was pissed off to boot... Over 3k on a CUSTOM SHOP Jackson... that should NEVER happen, but it does, we all have had, or heard of experiences with this... I've owned nearly two dozen PRS's (not bragging, I just go through guitars in search of the 'holy grail' lol) over the years, and this has NEVER happened with one of them.
DISCLAIMER!!! LANGUAGE MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME READERS>> PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED!!!!
This is why FMIC should suck donkey dick, whilst getting horse fucked to death! They are destroying the Jackson Reputation and legacy, by forcing numbers, reducing quality control, features, options, pretty much everything that is wonderful and pure about handmade guitars (cue single tear, and slow light piano music in background hahahaha.)Wish I could add Pics to this thing!!

I have a friend, own's the local PRS selling shop, bought a PS, and if ANYTHING is even a little bit off, woodwork to color, even the 'subjective tone' issue... they band saw off the headstock and send it to you, then they start over, at no additional cost... guess that's what 10k base gets you...

I'm not knockin PRS and if thats what you prefer then by all means buy and play them. But my experience is that a USA Jackson at under $2500 is a better guitar than a $10K PRS.Rudy

Oh I have owned Several more Jackson's than PRS's in my day, that is true currently as well, I would not say I'm a 'PRS guy'. I have owned, and still own some damn fine Jackson's, but as far as I'm concerned, I can order a PRS and it is a PRS, you expect, and it comes with a certain level of guaranteed quality and tone, but obviously some are better than others, and obviously you can find guitars from any manufacturer that can smoke any other given brand, that is the nature of the beast, of wood, etc. But I have never played a PRS and was like "fuck that shit, this blows ass", I have played one and was like "It's decent, but I'll pass" Unfortunately I have Played Jackson's and have said the former, shit I've eyed over Jackson's and have said the former... inlays coming unseated in brand new from the factory guitars...
My argument is quality control, not the quintessential Jackson VS the quintessential PRS... that comes down to personal preference...
But in my Own exp of owning 4 Custom shop Jackson's and untold USA's (30 minimum lifetime) I can say with the absolute confidence of many many occasions of personal experience and the experiences of others on this forum that PRS makes a better product overall, at least a more consistent product overall, than Jackson does, but they are much more expensive, the average off the shelf Custom 24 with birds, will cost you more than a decked out one-off Jackson custom shop... so you are definitely paying for that difference.
Though like I said, I am not a PRS 'superfan' by any means, I am a tried and true Jackson 4 life fanboy on the other hand, I'm just stating the honest sum of my, and those of others, personal experiences with the two brands, and Jackson could learn a lot from PRS.
PRS's all look the same (for the most part) and the rotary switch is terrible (though some swear by it, you do get some cool tones) but it is a standard option to get a 3-way switch, while the same request will from Jackson put you in a CS guitar and price. The Neck carve option from PRS is the best thing ever, Again though, if you want a WR1 with a standard soloist neck, or a Soloist with a speed neck, from Jackson that'll be an extra couple grand... PRS, standard option... And inlays, tops, hardware color, etc... If you want a Trans Black SL2H with black Hardware, you better find 9 other people who want one too so you can get a group buy limited edition, otherwise that's a couple a grand for that option and you have a CS...
Jackson needs these options too, just look through all the limited run threads, and the threads all over the forum... its littered with "I wish I could get Black hardware on this", "I wish I could get a speed neck on an RR1" etc, etc, etc...
Do not get me wrong, the Jackson's I have chosen to keep are the Fucking shit, and I wish all Jackson's were just like those, and I'm not saying that PRS or any other manufacturer doesn't have flaws or make mistakes, it just seems that they either happen more often in Jackson's than other brands, or they just don't catch them, or they just plain don't give a shit...
I love Jackson, I do, but If someone out there from Jackson is reading this, please take it as constructive criticism from a loving life-long fan and customer, things need to change, just page through this very forum, and you'll make a whole lot of people very happy.Last edited by Gibsonmac; 01-19-2011, 10:21 AM.Wish I could add Pics to this thing!!
