Jackson USA raising prices?

I remember complaining about this years ago and the only responses I got where from dudes in their 40s acting all elite because they could afford to shit out the ridiculous amount of cash they were charging for them back then and flaming me because I actually value my money. It's good to see I am not the only one here anymore who thinks this is bullshit. For a while a custom shop with NOTHING added to it was going for no less than $5,000. It has gotten completely out of hand. And the mark up on these are outrageous; when I worked at Guitar Center sticker price on a KV2 with ghost flames was $2,400 but the store paid $1,050.

Blame it all on Gibson and the retards that have paid their outrageous prices while quality has steadily fallen. It all started with those greedy bastards and trickled down to everyone else. I could see raising prices a little because of inflation, but 30% every time? Really?

Wow, that's a significant mark up from the cost price! That's more than 130%! I thought GC only had about 20%-30% profit margin on most items, looks like the Select Jacksons aren't part of it!

Not everything they sell is marked up so high. For example a Digitech GNX4 at the time cost about $500 but GC still paid roughly $450 for them. Although a white Les Paul "Custom" had a sticker price of $3,000 and GC only paid $1,800-$1,900 for them. Although I remember looking up the KV2 with blue ghost flames because I was toying with buying one since employees get them for cost. Or at least they did until Best Buy bought them now I don't know.

They could justify the price hike to me if they moved the volume knob 1/2 inch. LOL

+1 - While not a USA model, my KE3 has 1 damn knob and they put the fugger right in my way!

Thanks for the inside info, but the street price hike up on the USA Jacksons is still significantly high especially when considering that most authorized guitar dealers also use the same price tags! And now it's about 30% worse! Ouch!!!

It seems that FMIC loves the number 30. The last time they had a price hike it was 30% as well. I think their excuse was that Jackson didn't raise the price for 5+ years (so I guess because Jackson was better to their customers Fender had to do something about that) but apparently they are going to do it every 2-3 years now. I miss the days when you could see a "list price" and know that if you didn't get at least 50% off that then you got ripped off. Hell an ESP KH-2 will set you back $2,400 now; my dad bought me one in the late 90's for $1,400...Same exact guitar.

Was just about to make a new topic wondering about the days of when USD$1,000 and below was a much more common thing to see on eBay for [used] USA Jacksons. I am hanging onto my $800 Soloist for sure. Jeez, I was browsing eBay for Jacksons for the first time in a very long time (got rid of the Fight Club-esque hated consumerist syndrome otherwise affectionately known as "GAS") and even some of the Japanese Pro Series Jacksons are hovering around that $800 mark.

Meanwhile, gas (lowercase this time) has plummeted a few cents lately, which would have served me well had I not filled up my tank THE DAY BEFORE the prices came down.

I hate economics.
