The DK2M sells because of the price, not just the features. The market for MOTO fins on rosewood is very weak - especially light-colored rosewood that looks cheap. As well, most feel that MOTO is just weak in general, especially when Shecter, ESPee, and Ibenhad are shitting out models that are covered in real MOP and abalone for the same price.
Maple with black fins is sharp and defined, so it gets more love, even though the inlays are still plastic. Black plastic looks more like ebony than that pearlified plastic does MOP.
However, if the SL2H-M was priced the same as the regular SL2H, I think you'd still see the regular model outsell it by a mile. Most of those who would drop the coin on a USA Jackson production model prefer the darker-colored board, mostly because they cry about how maple looks when you play it like it's supposed to be played (but at the same time they jack off to the fretboard wear on Clapton's or Murray's or Blackmore's Blackie Strats).
