  • What model is this one?

Okay so this one came to me from my NY collection. I bought this when I was about 14 at of all things a garage sale. I played it a bunch in HS but never really gave a chit about collecting at that point. My dad is here in Texas visiting my son and brought this one to me on the plane. I told him to grab a random case from the room lol.

    Snakeskin gray/black graphic

    Ontario Plate 1640

    Bolt on

Scalloped horn and heel (this throws me since in the earlier range I thought none had this)

Schaller trem that is black but has chrome saddles and bar because well at some point I thought that looked cool...I am currently scouring my parts boxes.

USA Ebony neck MOP logo and sharkies

    24 frets

HSS with a 5 way and some sort of splitter added but looks factory.

The body is a 9 out of 10 neck is a 10 out of 10. G and G style case. Ill get some pics in a moment.

I cant find reference of the scalloped horn in the old catalogs which is throwing me. Thinkin its just one of those old school oddities.

And yes it will be in the classifieds shortly its part of my liquidation. So I dont need a 400$ Ron value

check the dates & work order # in the pocket & on the heal. not sure when they switched to the ontario plates but, as long as the dates are close & the work order# matches all is good. i thought it was around 88/89 they started doing scalloped heals.

It won't be a 'model' because it's too early (i.e. everything was 'custom'), or because it's a mutt. MOP logo makes me think it's a mutt because that serial would put it latest at 89 (but likely 87) which is too early for a MOP logo. 24 fret bolt-ons are also pretty rare for that era of serial.

Guess it could be a legit guitar with a replaced neck plate. Sounds like a Fusion or Dinky.

Well I pulled the neck and some kid has his name and social security number in the pocket written in big ass sharpie and anything that was there is illegibile at this point. The neck writing isnt really visible at this point either. It definitely doesnt have the nice order grid my Jackson Strat had...However it is intonated plays like a dream and looks 99.9%. Wonderin if this was someones after hours axe from the shop.

As for the MOP logo I will disagree as I had one earlier than 87 with an MOP logo infact I even had an 85 with an MOP logo. pics in a moment im uploading

Oh and opening the control cavity it has the nice plate etc in there that all my dimas era stuff has had. and my ontarios. So the body is definitely of the vintage IMO. This was is kinda cool lil mystery lol

It is a mid to late 90's dinky custom.Or a fusion.

tis a fusion I would guess that would make sense for the mini toggle

                      Yeah, that's not 1640, that's 001640. 90's Dinky or Fusion.

I'd be very interested to see pics of that 1985 with a MoP logo. Because (and I'm pretty damn confident of this), there's no way an 80's guitar originally had a MoP logo on the head.

Top two have scalloped horn, 'Standing Woman' has a mid-boost (or similar) switch.

Cool deal that would be about right I got this thing used from a store back in NY in like 96-97 frame traded some ibanez S towards it at the time. Its like a 9.9 out of 10 with the saddles being the wrong color and the mini switch not connected being the only issues.

Has a j90 at the bridge and whatever singles.
