  • I purchased USA CS Dinky for $188 yestarday lol

Actually I purchased two Jacksons yestarday on ebay'(the second one was earlier 90's dinky std), but that's something unbelievable! Yes, she is in bad condition, I mean it was really hardly used. But actually I don't know much about that. The seller didn't put any useful information about the guitar like it's serial number or production date. I will get it only in month( Yes, I'm from Ukraine ), so I will post some seller's photos.

Any thoughts about what it is?

Black tuners in pic #1 and chrome in pic #2. Are my eyes deceiving me?
    What's the serial?

Edit: ah, you posted two different guitars and don't have the serial(s) yet? Sorry

No, that's the bad flashlight. I wrote about serial number, don't know it because the seller didn't put any information about it, that's why I'm looking for information here BTW, look to the scalloped heel at the body, possible it's the key

Maybe start over and tell about the guitar in the pics. You weren't very clear with your description.Looks like a parts mutt but I like it.

Looks legit to me - large control route plus the space between the neck and middle pickups. They stopped spacing them out like that in the 90s. Plus that looks like a painted or decal headstock, not a plastic cap. The San Dimas Soloist I had with the broken headstock was held together by the headstock cap

I see two weird things. The trem cover seems a bit large going towards the neck, but I'd have to do an A-B picture comparison to really decide. 2nd, sculpted heel joint AND a nut mounted with thru-neck bolts... it doesn't add up year-wise (to me).

Edit: Nah, trem cavity cover is all right.

Well, here is the original description on the ebay:

This is a vintage JACKSON Dinky electric guitar. 3D skull airbrushed from the factory. It plays awesome. It has Jackson pickups and also a Humbucker. It has a few battle scars(nicks, scrapes etc...). The tuning keys are original Jackson. Its a great playing guitar. It is being sold as is.It is also missing a knob knob.

I worry about the guitar is the project and the body is not original to this neck. Yes, neck is looking like it's 80's student Dinky but the quality of the airbrush is too high as for 80's, that's why doubt if it is Jackson USA body, or Jackson body at all. Hope I'm mistaken now

The headstock has been repaired, you can make out the break between the third and fourth tuners on the front and back photo. The A string saddle shouldn't be that far forward, the intonation is going to be off. Note that it has also been changed to a black saddle.

Also , is it me or is the trem not sitting parallel to the body, i.e. going on a divebomb?

And are those Kahler fine tuner knobs on the high E and B?

The trem angle could be due to being set up for a lower tuning but the strings tuned higher.

That was my point, the trem wasn't/isn't set up properly. Good eye Newc, I hadn't noticed the tuners till you mention it. The price might not be worth the sum of the parts me thinks!

Actually I fall in love in that volume knob! Real vintage knob, like they were in USSR. And I love heavy relic guitars When I was on the street, my friend SMSed me about that, he sent me a message with ebay number of item, I entered it to my mobile phone browser and put the bid . Then I discovered, that it's mine! It could be a good project to spend free time when you are boring, especcially for such low price and as I hope for a such good guitar(I mean neck+body, if, of course, they are original).

don't know about tuners. I think the best thing I can do is to wait for about a mount, and after it's round-the-world trip I'll make some photos.
