Control cavity paint?

Hi guys,

I need your knowledge on this.
I recently bought a USA soloist in natural finish (it's a sl2h-mah). When I opened the control cavity I noticed the inside is covered in some black thick substance.
Since this guitar is not painted it can not be paint, so is it normal for USA jacksons to have shielding paint?
Or could this guitar be a fake?!

Yes, it is most likely shielding paint. In the beginning they used a brass plate for shielding but it was only on 1 side...well, I guess on 2 sides if you count the metal electronics cavity cover. They later used shielding paint cos it covered more.

It is usually black/very dark gray and you can usually see grooves in the paint from the brush strokes.
