The 81 has the silver logo and is in the bridge in your pic, and the 85 has the gold logo and is in the neck. Most people use them that way, but I find they sound better the opposite way.

I personally think that top mounted floyds have more "punch" for lack of a better word. Not sure why though.. You wouldn't think it would be that significant of a difference. Plus I do like that there is a tad more "picking space".. in other words, the strings are higher off the body.

Somehow I sometimes get the idea that it's the other way around, that most people use 85b 81n
At least anyone I discuss that combo with (and use the same config myself)

Maybe more people are using it that way nowadays, but it was usually like Zakk Wylde or Kerry King with the 81b/85n. Kirk Hammett had dual 81s and James Hetfield used the 81b/60n.

I think i might try the 18v mod ... and swap em ,,, the neck pup sounds a lot "fattter" to me righ now, Never using or being a big fan of EMGs wondering what i will loose if i swap em ..?
