Whereas it seems the earlier models could only fit either EMGs or Jackson singles...

Also, any idea if they ever offered a hardtail SL1?

Not sure on the pickups, but they still offer a hardtail - the SL1T. Unless you mean a hardtail strat-type bridge, in which case, no, they've never done a production model like that..

Thanks Neilli. I was thinking string through body. When I search under USA Select Series, the only hardtail is a SL2HT (HT for Hard Tail I suppose).

And besides, you're too old and have been around here too long to avoid the original question. Now get to it!

High mercury content in those bridges. That's caused by the Tunamatics eating smaller bridges that contain mercury, so it raises the level of mercury in the Tunamatic.

SL = Soloist. 2H= two humbuckers. T = tunomatic bridge. Though, years ago, certain models had the T designation for trem.

They did have the 22-fret USA SLS a few years ago, just not in an H/S/S version. Check out the blue one.

I think the single coils were routed for "normal" singles in the mid to late 90's. I could be wrong though. my USA DK1 was routed for regular singles and that is a 1997 model. I think the soloists did the same around then.
