jackson usa bolt on (80's) suggestion needed

Hi, I just found an ad regarding a USA jackson from the 80's.
It's a bolt on, sn 1331; I didn't even think that jackson made bolt on during the 80s! the color is pink, khaler bridge and it says it's got hss Duncan pickups with 3 on/off switches

Soudns strange cause I couldn't imagine Jackson making a bolt-on in the 80's

How can I recognize if this guitar is not a fake?

Another thing: I would like advice about such a guitar if it can back up for my charvel xl650 of 1990. Is it a good guitar really?

Yep. Jackson made Bolt-on's during a time when Charvel had shipped their production to Japan. If it's a 1131, it probably says "San Dimas" on it, instead of Ontario. I have owned several of them and the necks are the bolt-on's are to die for! They are so smooth and fast, totally unfinished feel on the back. Mine also has the Kahler, which is probably a better unit than the Jackson JT (imho). Probably not a fake - would take too much money to fake it. Just think of these guitars as USA Charvel pointies, 'cause that is the similarity.
They are great guitars, better quality than the current production and will give your Charvel a run for its money.

thanks for the reply. A fast and smooth neck is what I'm looking for as I play shred leads in a metal band.

what is the market price of such a guitar?

PS: I have a JT on my Jap Charvel and I don't like it, it's probably the only bad thing of the 650xl (except for the pickups I replaced)

Prices go from $700-1100. Somewhere in that range. Amazing that some of these bolt-on's are less than USA Pro Mod Charvel, but I think that is a reflection on the market and economy more than quality. A lot of folks stay away from them because of the pointy headstock but the 80's Jackson headstock is the bomb!

That sounds like a bargain to me. As long as it is in playable condition, obviously. I say go for it!

I just made the payment. 440 € (600 $ current 1,40 $/€ exchange ratio). The guitar is about to be shipped.

The guy told me it's in pretty original shape and it has the duncan humbucker at the bridge. the other two single coils should be jackson factory pickups as he says nothing written on it.

assuming that as a fact, how would you rate jackson pickups of early mid 80s?

Most of the Jackson pickups are well regarded. I only have experience with J-80C's and they were killer, especially combined with a JE-1200 midboost.

I'd rip his fucking arm off. My snakeskin strat is a little older than this pink one, and it is simply the best guitar I've owned. I would need no persuading to jump on other similar guitars, if I came across any.

VERY COOL, yes those jackson boltons are great. Ive got a couple myself and am always looking for more...as long as it dont have a kahler.
