  • Need some advise for hands sticking to back of neck on RR1

I have acid hands and the back of my RR1 gets all gummed up and sticky making it really hard to play at times. Anyone have suggestions post em

Obviously I never have this problem on my DK2M or My 96 King V STD.

Also Does anyone Know About this stuff http://guitar-hands.com/

I never really believed in any of these type products but I'm open to suggestions.

I used to use baby powder..
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

get some guitar polish and a good soft cloth. I find that cleaning the back of the neck with polish often makes a big difference. it works for me really well.

I was thinking of doing a sanding job on the neck only but thats not rookie work. I seen some nice pics of Solists with sanded necks
          and they looked nice

            I dont advise that.

get some polish and try that.

I have a freind that sanded a guitar, and he refinished it, and went back to painted neck and was happier with it painted. I dont advise you sand it.

Maybe clean your neck more often But you can also try a 3m green scratch pad to get rid of the gloss feel instead of a full sand.

yea, just scuff up the finish with a scour pad. You can always polish it back up if you don't like it.

Yea that's a big job too but I do like the feel of my Bolt on Jacksons better only cause
they don't get grabby. I'm gonna polish it "duh like I was already doing that he he" what do you use for polish??? At the same time I will Also use Corn Starch or baby powder as well as that should help to keep my hands dry too.

0000 steel wool works well too, probably about the same as the scouring pads. It will polish back up after playing it awhile, so you will have to redo it after awhile to satin the neck again.

Would the powder get in the strings? Isn't that, not good?
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

                          $14.95 + $4.95 shipping?!? Jeesh, I pay like $9 shipped for mine.

That's actually an option as well, although not for everyone. I had a problem with my hands getting sweaty if I was really running around and wearing gloves like that made a huge difference. Also helps keep my picking hand forearm from sticking to the guitar when I start to sweat.

Or you could just buy or find a good quality cotton glove and make it fingerless, or just wear a cotton sock and cut its end and make a hole for your thumb, improvise.

I like satin or oiled necks and I had the same sticky problem with both of my RR1:s.
I tried cleaning, polish, wax, all kinds of shit, nothing worked and the guitars was not getting any playtime, they just sat there on the wall, staring at me...
After thinking alot I took a sheet of 1200 grit and gently scuffed the back of the neck on both of them and it worked.
I know they eventually will return to glossy finish just by me playing them, but the paint seems thick enough for doing it many, many times and still have enough left if I would like to polish them back to stock finish.
Strange thing is that I also have a CS Soloist that has a painted neck and that one is a whole different story, no sticking and plays more or less like a satin finished neck...must be different paint on that one...
It has this chameleon finfish so I assume it's clearcoated and if I only could figure out what kind of clearcoat it is, I would apply that over the necks on my RR1:s as well.
