Hey Guys. I just picked up a Jackson RR1T and the guy before me had EMG's in it, 81/60's. I usually always use EMG's but I wire them with the 18 volt mod. This RR1T has very little space in the cavity and I a cannot fit the second battery to try the 18 volt mod to see if it improves the tone to my liking.
Do any of you guys have EMG's with the 18 volt mod in an RR1? How did you fit the second battery? I don't want to route out the cavity.
Does anyone have an EMG 81 in the bridge and like it in an RR1?
What other pick ups are known to pair up good with the RR1's?
This is my first RR1, and first alder body guitar. I have a King V that's Basswood (KVX10) and had a KV2T that was mahogany. My KVX10 is much brighter in a good way.
I find my RR1 sounds a little dead, or dull maybe it's the sterle sound that the EMG's are known for...
I play old 80's type thrash, with a lot of mids in standard tuning...
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks.
