I'm perfectly happy with the stock J50BC/J200/J200 in my Soloist, although I may swap to a J200R at the neck at some point. I have a rule about not duplicating guitars, so if I get another Soloist (no doubt this will happen one day!) I'll put something different in it. Probably a Duncan Distortion + 2 rail pickups of some kind. My Charvel 650 is basically a Soloist by another name with rosewood board and has an EMG 85/SL/SLV + SPC mid boost in place of the JE-1200.

I also have the same stock pickup combo in my first 475, although with the 2nd one, I swapped to a full Duncan PATB set, which is extremely rare to see in a guitar. I like the Duncans better overall, but there is still major appeal to the stock Jacksons to me, and I like having that as an option.

Although it works well, I would never buy the JB/'59 combo for any guitar if it didn't already come with it! I've got it covered in one Charvel, which is enough for that sound. I think the Evo2/Air Norton or Evo2/Liquifire is hard to beat for HH.

My 85 &86 Soloist came with EMGs Sa/Sa/ 81 or 89( at this time every guitar was a Custom order)no production guitars. My Schon's came with Jackson pickups both 86.
