I've only seen these in white so I'm a bit curious as to why this one is orange. Any ideas? It's a 1991 USA SL1 but I want to make sure it's not a refinished one.

Just to throw it out there, pre-1994's were called Soloist Custom's. SL1 designation started in 1994 IIRC. I have a 1993 with white lightning. Pic is small and not clear enough to be sure.. but all the ones I've seen have the cloudy sky above the lightning and that one doesn't seem to have it. Don't know if that means anything or not..Every man dies... Not every man really lives!!

As Toejam said, there's other colors of lightning sky out there. But Warlok makes a good point that all the ones that I've seen have had some clouds in the graphic with the lightning coming out of them. The one in your pic shows the lightning going all the way to the body edges. I've never seen that before. But if it's a custom order, anything is possible.

No, there were lightnings done that way. Completely stock USA production, nothing custom about it. Remember, in the early 90's there was NO upcharge for factory graphics at all on USA models."Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

Lightning sky
I know this thread is old but i had to reply and let you know that you have solved a 21 year old mystery. I purchased my 1991 USA Dinky ser# 001286 (Ontario plant) in 1991 at a then new music store in Reno NV (it has since gone out of business) "My" guitar was sitting in a stand on top of the glass counter with bright red bolts of lightning racing across its black body.. I fell in love with it and was told it was a limited color that the company did for special events or in this case to present to shops that signed a new Jackson contract. I bought it and still have it. Over the years I have searched online and in person and have never seen any lightning sky other then white. I am pleased that there is at least one other, now I hope I don't start seeing them everywhere.
