Annah..How in the poop did ya get that tone outta that Krank? I F'd with one for almost an hour and couldn't get anything worth a squat.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

Very cool! Love the XL500s. Nice touch.
I used to keep a toaster in the rehearsal space to warm the hands up and make pop tarts! LOL.
And yes, this is the right place to post this.
Please elaborate on your sound - I too was not a Krank fan when I tried one.Last edited by GuerillaPete; 10-07-2011, 01:28 PM._______________________

Bill & Pete: HAHA! And thanks everyone else. Yeah, hard not to play Rhoads on a Rhoads, lol.
Pete - The Krank is less than a year old, is a Revolution+. Tony Dow (creator of Krank amps) hooked me up with it (Chris Catero, too. Both friends of mine.) There's nothin' fancy about it I guess. I run straight into it, usually dry save for going through a dbx166XL, but in this vid I used a new CryBaby Classic and I added some reverb to the whole video in post.
I really love the Krank, but after Tony set up my TSL100 head I love it too. Thing is SO lush, it's amazing. I use the Marshall in bands I'm the only guitarist in, and I use the Krank when we have a 2nd guitarist. The reason for this is because the Krank cuts through the mix better live and the Marshall fills-in the gaps better live. The Krank works VERY nicely with both the BL XL500's and the EMG81 in my KE2, but doesn't sound as good with my SG Std through it. The SG sounds STELLAR through the Marshall though. In fact, that tone is by far my favorite for creamy, pure, luscious, super-soaky metal. It's a bit more organic than the others, I guess. But all these tones have purpose, depending on the project.
One of these days I'll try to post a vid of my whole live rig. I think you guys will appreciate it.
Oh yeah, speaking of Tony and Krank amps... he left the company several months ago and started a new one, STIFF AMPS. They're little heads that pack a frickin' punch!!! Larry Elyea (our mgr/producer and owner of Mind's Eye Digital) has a few of them in his studio. They kick some ass and sound sort of like what you'd expect to get if you crossed the Rev+ and the TSL100. Pretty sweet, actually. http://orbitelectronix.com/stiff/Last edited by Annah; 10-07-2011, 04:16 PM.

Pretty cool stuff, but nowadays I have no real use for 100+ watt amps. Even 50 watts is too much for me. Heck, 30 watts and the neighbors complain. Ah, the joy of urban living.
Last two years, I've been running either PREs into a DAW and using studio monitors or a low-watt amp in the 5-10 watt range just to be able to push some tubes to saturation._______________________
