This part is not unusual at all for the USA Select line given the way they produce various US models and finishes in rotation.

      Jackson KE1T

^ ya, i know. I don't see why they stopped doing black pins, seems like that competed with black for the most popular color?

I really want to order a RR1T, but 2950 is ridiculous for a simple Tune O Matic Rhoads. If anything, it should cost LESS than a regular RR1....

          Update:

Just called Fender. They told me that they are still doing snow white w/ black pinstripes, they didn't stop that finish. They also said that the RR1T costs the same as the RR1.

So wtf are these guitar stores telling me false info?

Try contacting one of the dealers on this site rather than Sam Ash or GC. Might be some savings there too.

Actually, it doesn't. The neck on the RR1 is straight since it's got a recessed Floyd. The RR1T has a TOM bridge and the neck needs to be tilted back a little.

Oh ya, but it is nowhere near the effort of routing out all the wood. Plus the cost of a tune o matic vs the cost of an OFR.

True. Most people seem to prefer Floyds, though. And the RR1T model didn't come out until the year 2000, and the catalog did say it was limited to 50 built a year. Not sure if that's the same now or not. The prices for both models were the same, though.

The real reason the RR1T with black pins costs 400 dollars more than the RR1 with black pins, is that the white w/ black pins isn't a standard finish on the RR1Ts anymore, but they still offer the finish.

                      So RR1= $2549 RR1T= $2949

                      Quite a price difference

Ah, I see. Weird how they discontinued it from one as a standard finish and not the other.

I dunno. I wish they kept it to make my decision easier

The key question is if the $2,950 quote ensures the guitar will be 100% hermetically sealed and privileges of opening the box on the dealer's premises will be granted solely to you. If so, that might be a bargain price.

Only way to guarantee you're the only one playing the guitar and it stays fresh would be to just go to the Jackson Custom Shop. Hang out there while they make you one. Have Mike or Tim build it out for you while you're sitting around watching Pablo add extra points onto guitar bodies.

Buy one used and get it re-finished. Easy peasy japanesy. End of story. Plus, you'll save enough loot to buy a 'blues rock chatter' stomp box. I heard they're the new rage.

Have you tried contacting one of the dealers here like Matt at Matt's Music or Nick at Piney Hills? Those would have been my first calls, not GC or Sam Ash. Maybe Matt and Nick can call Jackson or their rep and see if they can get that RR1T. I thought I remember when McD was still at Jackson and he could approve a discontinued color/graphic with only a paint charge. So it wouldn't be the full custom shop price but might cost a little more than a current production model. Doesn't hurt to ask one of the dealers to see what they can do.
