I thought I remember when McD was still at Jackson and he could approve a discontinued color/graphic with only a paint charge. So it wouldn't be the full custom shop price but might cost a little more than a current production model. Doesn't hurt to ask one of the dealers to see what they can do.

Thats what they say they will do for the RR1t. They will charge $400 extra for that specific finish. But it won't be a custom shop guitar.

How much would a custom shop cost if it was the same specs of a USA select?

I've got a MIJ Jackson Rhoads Legend that I plan on selling. It's a bolt-on, string-thru ToM, 1-hum (EMG), with the "RR" pinstripe finish. #10 of 24 pieces. Was a limited run done back in 2005 by Guitar Express. You'd save a ton of loot. PM me if you're interested.

That's weird....its a skinny ass pinstripe covering less than 1% of the guitar, not really a graphic finish to a huge extent like bolted steel or snakeskin, etc.

Imagine the extra upcharge to apply a pinstripe to a lefty model?

Thats what makes me mad. I will pay a lot extra for a small line across it!

Well it is an extra expense hiring a left handed artist for those specific guitars....

Someone told me this, but I want to ask any RR1t owners to be sure...

The other finish I wanted that is a standard finish for the "T" is Lightning Sky but the pickguard ruins that finish. Is there any way Jackson would not put the pickguard on for the finish if I ask? , or do they have to have it on?

Your guitar will look pretty bad without the pg, because RR1s are "front loaded"

IOW, your knobs/switches will be hanging out from the front cavity that the pg currently covers

Ugh, thanks man. Figures! Its between metallic black and Regular snow white then. I noticed that the RR1t had V/T/T, which I don't like considering I always have tone on 10. V/V/T I NEED to switch from clean to dist. I am guessing it would be simple to change this by switching some wires? I do know how to solder if its required

                      I'm liking this guy already!

                      $400 more for a RR1T......

In fairness, I can see where they are coming from. The neck through wood would have to be thicker to accommodate the 3 degree angle and that neck angle has to be spot on. It is a harder guitar to build than a recessed floyd RR1 in many respects and if the shop is only really set up for non angled Floyd guitars...

Didn't know that all RR's before 2000 were floyd ones though.

Only way to guarantee you're the only one playing the guitar and it stays fresh would be to just go to the Jackson Custom Shop. Hang out there while they make you one. Have Mike or Tim build it out for you while you're sitting around watching Pablo add extra points onto guitar bodies.

Buy one used and get it re-finished. Easy peasy japanesy. End of story. Plus, you'll save enough look to buy a 'blues rock chatter' stomp box. I heard they're the new rage.

Did I hear someone say lefty? The more I hang around here and hear stories about Jacksons, there seems to be plenty of exceptions to the rules...... For example, I just bought a brand new built in 2011 lefty KV2 in Silver Swirl for standard Select pricing. From what I can tell, you normally can't buy a KV2 left handed nor one in Silver Swirl without going custom....yet here I hold one in my hands

Now, I think there may have been some exceptions made because of a new dealer starting up specializing in lefties, but who knows.

From the beginning, Custom Rhoads models were made to order. The production USA Select RR1T didn't come around until 2000.

I think this is what you are looking for without the price tag? If your not close to Morganton NC and he won't send it to you then PM me and we'll see if you and I can work a deal and I'll get it or something? He only wants a $1000.00 for it? Good deal I'd say, but I LOVE Floyds, its the only reason I haven't got it already!

                                Shit that looks nice

Problem is the money I need to buy the guitar doesn't get deposited in my bank until the middle of November.
