  • NGD: Jackson SL1 - Possible Project Guitar

Snagged this off ebay on a total impulse purchase mode and want to make it a project guitar but not sure what to do with it. It's got a heavily modified OFR and a dimarzio air norton s in the neck. I was thinking of putting in emgs or something unique...

The previous owner tried to put on a pickguard and drilled the holes into the poor soloist.

Here are some pics - not sure yet if I'll keep it for long enough to invest in refinishing it or just plug the holes with screws and rock out on it.

It was routed out for a 3 way toggle of some kind. Wondering where can I get it refinished in a solid color for a pric ethat wont break the bank.

Mike Learn is highly recommended, not sure on prices though. His artwork is AMAZING.

Yes, Mike Learn is who you want to send it too. His prices are very reasonable and his work is top notch!

It's the best blue finish I've ever seen on a soloist. It's a blue pearl and goes from a nice purple to blue in the light changes

Thanks. That's gorgeous and I can't remember ever seeing that color before.

I think what we are missing here is the total awesome potential this guitar has! Don't send it anywhere, don't plug holes! Put a BIG ASS kill switch in the routed out tone pot hole, dig in some bad ass looking screws or find some crazy pick gaurds to put on it and then ROCK OUT WITH YOUR COCK OUT! Hell one of the graphics they make now is bolted steel? Find some screws with some rivet tops or something cool! Maybe even (dare I say it) skulls or something, or just something industrial looking!

The OFR looks to be stock except those odd intonation screws. What's heavily modified about it?

It's getting a Dimarzio Super 3 in the bridge and I can't afford to have it refinished so for the time being I'll just play it with the shot gun blast holes all over it heh.
