  • I busted my RR1

I have a 94 RR1 and it was in mint condition until it fell off a stage and the top corner of the headstock broke off exposing the tuning peg for the low E. I'm lucky in that the guitar is still perfectly playable. I'm unlucky because the repair is kind of ugly. This guitar has been sitting in a case for at least the past ten years. It has the best neck I've ever played, but I just can't get used to how awkward the RR sits on a strap for me - plus, I'm always afraid that I'm going to bang into things on stage. I have a problem where I get attached to my gear.
Anyway, here's my question: Since it's ugly, it's value is pretty much shot. I'm wondering if I should try to sell it and take whatever I can get for it or just use it as the guitar to light on fire? Or...is something like this repairable? I don't have a pic that I can post, but you may be able to see it on CL, posted two weeks ago in New Haven, CT.

P.S. Me and Jackson's were never meant to be. My first RR was smashed by an idiot bass player, my first SL1T and my favorite Model 6 went up in flames when my band room burned. I mean.... Why do the Jackson Gods hate me? I'm a loyal Jackson player.

It's a shame about your rehearsal room burning down, I'm guessing that you weren't insured.

Battle scars are good, don't give up on a great guitar because it has some scratches. Nearly all of the guitars I gig with have some sort of damage, that's the way it goes. If it's so bad that you can't stand to look at it have it refinished.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

I actually was insured. That paid for my SL2H.

Get it repaired by someone who knows what they are doing. It sounds like you could benefit from having a "war horse" in the herd.

You might want to PM Sully, he had to have extensive repair IIRC on his LTD when he bought it back and it was damaged in shipping. He will probably have a good suggestion on who to have do the repair for you
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

No way. I got a $750 offer two days ago that I should have taken.
