  • So, should I pull the trigger on this Sl1?

I contacted Guitar Asylum about this axe and quickly got an email from Gary at Guitar Asylum about it

Any experience with these guys? I just want to make sure I get a good guitar and I am dealing with some good people

They have a good reputation, but they're expensive. Not saying that guitar itself is expensive (I loose track) though..
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Well for me 1,900 for a USA Jackson, especially in that color, is not bad.

Then again I am young and do not remember when USA Jacksons were around 1,200 lol

I got a new soloist from them in 2002 that had damage to the case and a scuff on one of the tuners because of UPS. Guitar Asylum shipped me a brand new case and a brand new full set of Jackson tuners at no charge to make up for it, and was fantastic about it. They didn't wait to go after UPS, and I had the replacement stuff two days later.

I called them a couple weeks ago about a Jackson 12 string he had. The guy I talked to was a Jackson collector himself, and great to talk to. I would call them direct, not go through their eBay listing. When I called he knocked some off of the price he had listed the 12 string for on eBay. It was still too expensive for me, but he definitely seems to have some room to move off of the prices he puts on the eBay listings.

Seems like a fair price to me. Slightly less than my SL2H was in 2006, new.

I have priced them out a few times on stuff and they have always been really high priced. I went elsewhere.

I agree about calling. The eBay price is going to have some inflation due to fees. I'd ask if calling direct could save you some of that. It never hurts to ask.

I've bought a couple of soloists from them & only have good things to say about the service & product.

                        Bumping this to the top.

I will be putting down half of this thing tomorrow. Any last recommendations and things I should/ should not worry about?

I've bought a few guitars from them. Call them and they may work a deal on a lower price for you.

Interesting. Theres a thread floating around here from a few months ago bashing these guys as having terrible service and not answering inquiries and such. I expected this thread to be the same, but not the case it seems.

To answer the original question, NO! Find an SL2H and then pull the trigger! In my country SL2 rules! SL1, not so much.
