Thanks for all the feedback! I didn't realize a Rhoads neck was thicker than the standard Jackson speed profile.

The standard Jackson neck is not the "speed" neck profile. The speed neck is only the KV2 and the old KV1.

Well it was a bit out of my area, but I contacted the poster anyways. I made judicious use of http://allofcraigs.com for over a month just looking for the right deal. As for the authenticity of the guitar, I see no reason to believe otherwise. It's got all the right markings, hardware, and feel that would constitute an RR1.

I do wonder why they stopped making this finish though, it really is fantastic!

The Craigslist post did say it was a custom, but I don't see any indication of that on the headstock, serial number, or ownership manual. U099xx - RR1-GO

The only orange finished Jackson's I've found online all had silver hardware.

Could be a one-off custom. Not all custom shop guitars get the custom shop logo on the headstock... some people don't want it. Or it could have just been a one-off ordered by a particular dealer, maybe a small batch run or something.
