Funny but I haven't posted anything official here for years.. .. what's up Dudes & Dudettes?? (specifically the ones who've been here forever).. I figured you Jackson lovers would appreciate a good story or two.. especially with one of these..
Anyway, I had a hankering for working on a Big Red last week and I must admit, if there's a guitar I enjoy doing everything with, its this one.. She really only needed a string change and fingerboard conditioning but I decided to do a bit more; like redress the frets, pull all the hardware and parts off & reinstall after a good wipe down.. Then retuned to Eb, adjusting the floyd height & PU bobbins to suit..
Plugged it in and played for something like three hours without skipping a beat.. Needless to say, it was awesome to feel so inspired again.. what an instrument! Robbin Crosby truly left a legacy and if it wasn't for him, this guitar would've never existed. You rock Robbin!!! RIP brother!
So, without further ado, some pics..
I've always wondered what it is about this guitar that made my heart beat faster whenever I saw it, or any connection to it.. Probably because it's the first real Jackson that knocked me over back in the '80's.. the one that stood out and pretty much has become my most favored shape.. that oversized 'V'.. and this one just seems to have a magic all its own..
