  • 2000 sl1 ?

Hello all! I havent been in for a while. hope all is well.
I have a potential buy off c list for a sl1. I am told it is a 2000. It looks and seems completely correct to me. hss and neck thru etc.
Its about 3 hrs drive away so iI thought i would throw this out there.
The seller sais it has no serial#. I know it should be under the last fret.
He said he took it to g center and they told him that it woould be common for that year? They said that due to the switch with fender that that happened some. or it was made for an employee etc.
Any body heard of such a thing?
    Thank you for your help

I've seen other USA selects without serial #s. I've even talked to Chris Cannella about this issue and his general response was it could have been an employee project, the shop was in a rush and just grabbed a guitar to fill an order, or someone was either lazy or tired and wanted to go home for the day (like on a Friday afternoon). Regardless, no serial # doesn't date it to any one year or pre-Fender/post-Fender time period. If it's a specific color or graphic, you might be able to figure out a rough time period if that color or graphic was only offered in certain years.

Or it's a stolen guitar and the guy selling it sanded off the serial number.

If it's from 2000, it would have nothing to do with Fender since they didn't buy the company until late 2002.

I pulled up a couple of the USA serial # sites and I did read that some employee or endorsement guitars had no serial #. I am hoping you guys can shed some light on it with the tag in the back. It sure is an awesome guitar. I love the neck and the emgs as well. I play on a marshll and a mesa and a krank. you cant go wrong with this jackson lol.
                              Thanks guys
