first usa jackson ...not impressed!!!!!!!

so i brought the guitar back to the store today....where i live it is very cold ,today was -26c ..the guitar went from house to warm car to store ...when i opened the case at the store the fret board had cracks all over it ...i couldnt beleive what i was seeing ...anyway!!!! the tech said that has happened with jackson before because it is so dry here ...he said he will fix all the issue with the guitar and give me 300 dollars off the price.....hmmmmm should i still buy it .....or just just let them keep it...i guess i will see in a couple days when its all fixed up....a friend of mine has 3 usa jacksons that he got from pawn shops .i gave all of them basic setups when he bought them and they were all perfect not one issue with any of them...i guess i was naive to think if i bought a brand new one it would be the same quaility...oh well lesson learnt.....

You know what? Yes the guy ultimately proved himself to be an illiterate dick, and perhaps more accustomed to a different type of crack than a fingerboard one.

Nevertheless, questioning his grammar in the first place had no place in a guitar forum. What if English were not his first language (as it is not mine)? What if he simply doesn't care or hasn't had the opportunity to learn proper grammar? And don't tell me that homonymies are a R'n'R niche simply because of Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Well, first of all, sure as hell looks like english is his primary language to me from looking at his posts. Second of all, the grammar bit is a running thing here in JCF that happens all the time to everyone. Unless he's from some backwoods, third-world country then he's had the opportunity to learn proper grammar. If he simply doesn't care, well, that speaks wonders about him doesn't it? If the guy's skin is that thin that he can't take that lil bit then, as he proved anyway, maybe JCF isn't the place for him. I took harder kicks than that in my first few posts and I'm still here.

My KV2 had the bad hum when the volume was rolled off and you could still here the guitar with the volume all the way off, so I took it to a local Jackson tech at thier request. Ultimately it had to be sent back to Jackson and got it back. Best damn guitar I've ever had. Simple electronic problem that only Jackson could fix. As for the fret board, good as gold.

What should you do with a cracked fret board? SEND IT BACK AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK! I've ordered from Musicians Friend (new), ordered used from Guitar Center and never had a problem? I've played em in local small stores etc, never seen anything like what your talking about. Hell, save a thousand bucks and buy used. The best Jackson's I've came across were used ones for half the price. And if it has some scratches on it then you won't feel so bad the first time you rape one of the wings across a mic stand!

A cracked fretboard makes me wonder if he didn't put it in the vehicle the night before or something. I just can't picture that happening from a brief exposure, especially if it was in a case or bag. Maybe I'm wrong though but it never happened to me.

I always thought cold temps weren't a problem, as long as there was no temperature shock. In other words, you can leave a guitar in a case in a cold car over night as long it gradually cooled down and warmed back up. I was always told that the problems arose from quick temp changes, not prolonged exposure to extremes (within reason).

I've never needed to test it, but is this not true?

I've seen warped necks resulting from bring one inside where it's considerably warmer after the axe was in a vehicle or storage facility where it was pretty cold. I've never seen a fretboard crack as a result of that though.

I get that Toe, but those cracks wouldn't just appear overnight and certainly shouldn't be found on a new guitar.
