Master built vs. Custom shop

Yeah, I've been playing with the custom forms at Carvin and Warmoth to see what I can create. I think I'm going for a natural oil finished Warmoth strat in mahogany with either koa or walnut top, koa or wenge neck and ebony board...

Nice. I've thought about putting together a Warmoth strat for awhile, but I may just end up ordering another Carvin first.

I was so disillusioned by Fender that I've been spending my money elsewhere for the last 7+ years....I'm still buying guitars just not with FMIC.

I've gone back to my *OG* roots and (re)-built my vintage BC Rich collection and with Dan Lawrence's re-launch of GMP in 2008 started spending money on NEW guitars with him....

Sure I am biased, I work for Dan, but I certainly wouldn't spend my hard earned money there if I wasn't convinced they were the best bang for my buck.

For *ME* The Charvel/Jackson brand under Fender has morphed into something I don't care for....A PERFECT example is the new 'Desolation' series....wtf is that?

Just my .02 as a LONG TIME C/J collector-buyer....your mileage can, and probably does, vary.

I have 2 orders pending with TMZ right now. I want a thin neck profile like I have on my MIJ Soloist Pro (thinner than any other Jackson by far) .700" at the third and .780" at the 12th (my Ibanez RG565 is thinner) and they are looking to charge a crazy amount and said "it may take longer than the 18-24 months already quoted" I told TMZ that if Jackson does not get in-line with the price and delivery that I'm gonna walk....it's been a few weeks now and I don't think they give a shit.

What surprises me is that most of us continually bitch about ordering a custom shop from them but yet there lead time continues to hover in that 18 month + range. I for one will never order another one, due to, in this order, lack of attention/quality, price, and lead time. Who in the hell are buying all these CS Jacksons? :think: I am very happy to say I have 2 GMP's coming and , if all goes as it looks to go, there will be many more to follow!
