Ive had quite a few NGD's in the past 6 months, but to be honest Im lazy and havent posted about them yet, but this one is special.
About 4 years ago, I walk into Sam Ash and see a trans-black SL1 hanging on the wall. The first USA Jackson Ive seen in person actually! It was literally brand new even though it was a 2004 model. The price was friggin killer, especially without their stupid warranty so I walked out with it for $860, a pretty damn good deal especially at the time when the economy wasnt such garbage.
Fast forward a few weeks and an SL2H Chlorine comes up for sale which I have to have... even though I loved the SL1, I had to have that chlorine. So I take a bunch of great pics and sell that SL1 on eBay to a nice guy in Hawaii for $1500 shipped, almost enough to cover that SL2H. So I say goodbye to the SL1 and get the SL2H... after a bunch of issues with the guitar, it gets sent to Jackson to be fixed, which took a good while. Then I started to miss that SL1 again...
Less than a year later, he puts it up for sale and offers it back to be, though I didnt have the money at the time, and eventually the guitar sold and I lost track of it... until about 6 months ago, I was cruzing ebay as I do multiple times a day, and saw a trans black SL1... nothing special, looks like the rest, but for some reason I decided to compare it to my old one and holy hell, its MY guitar! He was asking $1250 which in todays market is a bit high for an SL1, auction ended, it didnt sell. So I email him, figured I can make a deal outside of ebay with him, and what do ya know, hes decided not to sell it! I give him my contact info and say if he wants to sell it, let me know. Couple months go by and I email again just as a reminder... nothing. Fast forward again to last month, the night I had just bought a 98 Trans Am as a little project, wouldnt ya know this guy emails me wanting to sell! Ugh... but luckily I had the money so I bought it for, $1145 shipped.
So all in all, since this guitar left my hands, it has traveled almost 9000 miles through two owners to get back to me. Ive only paid $605 total for it, $255 less than when I originally bought it 4 years ago. Hell, the odds of getting a guitar back from someone you know is tough enough, let alone from two people you dont! So its a pretty special guitar to me, and though its not a custom, it sure wont be going anywhere ever again!
