  • Fusions.

Hey guys, can you bring me up a bit more on these guitars. I know that it was supposed to be a great mix of Dinky/Strat/SL (which I think it was). But I cannot find a good detailed info for them
Jackson Black SL2HT, Jackson Trans Blue SL2H, Jackson Adrian Smith white with ebony board, ESP KH-2 Caution Hot, Gibson Les Paul Custom aged white, Fender American Strat.

Bolt on 24 3/4 scale, neck and headstock binding, 24 fret ebony fretboard, MOP sharkfins and logo, lower horn scalloped, pickups were J50 (all of mine were J50BC, but not sure if they all were) in the bridge, J200 in neck and mid. Production models started in 1990, not sure when it ended, but I have a '92. Very thin necks, not sure what the body wood was on these. A lot of them had graphics.

Included JE1500 which is a para mid eq and a toggle switch to turn it on and off. When on it is like a wah effect. Uses 9V battery.

    Can't think of much else...

And the "Fusion" name comes from the fact that Jackson fused characteristics of a (Gibson) 24 3/4 inch scale neck on a Strat type body. So you got the "percussive attack of a Les Paul" combined with the playability and looks of a Strat. After about 1992 the good ones were no longer made and production was completely overseas by the end of that year where the appointments became much lower quality.

Thanks guys! Do you know what is up with that carve on the back of the body, where neck joins? It is kinda cool and I actually like it better than the slant join on DKs. IMG_0060.jpg

They do, it is officially the best (well, compeating with Adrian's signiture) Jackson I have played (or any other guitar, well Suhr is hard to beat). I don't know if it is mojo or the neck scale..I love it.
Out of all these she is my favorite girl right now (and it is actually a girl )

Not all Fusions had the lower horn scallop. And a few Dinkies did also have that scallop.

That was the standard way the bodies on Jacksons were carved in the early '90s. Even the neckthru USA Soloists were shaped basically that same way with the curved cutout in 1990-91. The import Soloists of various types used that body carve until just a few years ago.
