  • NPD (NEW PAINT DAY!) Soloist inside!

I picked up this soloist quite some time ago from Meshy. Some knucklehead put a strat pickguard on it and thought that was cool, NO! its not.

SO got in touch with my friend who is local that paints guitars. he did my green one for me. He has been painting a LONG time. And also is a great player. but he used to paint anything from hot rods, motorcycles, street bikes, and even airplanes. and if you dabble in aerodynamics you know even the weight of the paint has an effect on the plane. so i trust him.

Anyways. being that im up to 4 one hum soloist and had this project laying here. i wanted to go little like lynch. Hum / Single with one volume that has a push/pull for switching between pups. pretty cool idea. so here we are.

Idea is down. Cut a maple block to plug up the center route since this started as a SL1 and handed it off to my friend.

I was so impressed with the agent orange color of my one hum Custom shop RR that i wanted to go with that. Since Jackson doesn't have the color code available my friend used his trained eye to match it up and well ill let the pics speak for how well he matched the color.

Here it is once i got it in some daylight.. Copper tone form the Pearl comes out nicely!

    With hardware installed.

And here it is in the daylight and some pics with the RR custom.

    .

and my Mean Green that he also painted.

That is awesome. Looks like he did a great job with the paint.

I'm planning a similar SL1 project idea. I can't decide between a toggle or the Lynch push-pull volume for the H/S switching...

It does take a little getting used to for sure.. If i did it again. I would prolly just keep the blade and make it a 3 way or something.. But once you practice it a bit switching is pretty easy.

but yeah he does. He did a glow in the dark Zebra stripe. that looks white untill the lights go out then goes Zebra. he did that for Nick (jacksonite) i think.

Got a KV2 im thinking about getting him to do something really cool on. not sure what yet.

        Looks awesome Bob!

Nice job there Bob. Funny, sick minds think alike. I have a soloist w/ a spray-can desert camo graphic, threw in a Warpig a few years back. Never looked back again. They're great PUs. Getting an Aftermath PU for my Baritone soon.

And you paint guy did a great job matching it to the V. Congrats amigo.

I actually have 2 HSS soloists that swapped the 5 way for 3 way blades (I never use the middle pup), so I'm leaning towards that. But being a big Lynch fan, I'm tempted to pay tribute

When I first saw the pickup I thought you were one of those weirdos that leaves the plastic films on stuff, then it dawned on me that it was a BKP.

Sweet guitar! That turned out great. Jackson should add some variety like this to the USA line. I would love to see a single hum and a H/S soloist.

You should post the before pic to remind people what it looked like. It's amazing how a fresh coat of paint and a little woodwork brings a guitar back to life!
