  • Jackson Custom Shop shutting down?!

    Hi guys,

as this is my first post let me just say how amazing this forum is not only when it comes to guitar porn but also as an incredibly competent source for all things Jackson (especially to me as a CS newb).

Now to the actual post: I'm from Germany and just this week attempted to order my first CS Jackson. Unfortunately I was immediately shut down by the two dealers I contacted. One said that Jackson has not accepted CS orders for about 8 months now (wasn't specific wether this just applies to Europe) and that the CS doesn't cater to Europe anymore for the time being.

The second dealer who apparently is THE guy to see when it comes to Jackson in Germany told me much more depressing news: Jackson is primarily focusing on the import business, not only from Japan but also India. They also suggested that the custom shop is being given up on entirely (USA Select models will still be produced).

To be fair, this is somewhat conflicting with what dealer #1 said who claimed they were merely backordered so much that they cannot accept orders at the moment.

Now my question to you fine folks: does anyone know anything concrete to confirm or hopefully bust these statements? Fact is that I can't order my guitar. I at least hope you guys in America still can and will be able to do so in the future.

I thought the Japanese stuff had stopped because the factory shut down?

    Welcome BTW.

It's amazing that the internet is no more reliable than the old-fashioned analog grapevine.

Keeping the USA Select line and killing the custom shop are two things that don't go together anyway. Thanks for the info. Guess it's just us Euros

Just order thru a USA dealer - I did mine thru The Music Zoo and so far it's been a great experience...

I have heard this too, and that management pretty much let the CS run itself to its own schedule - I guess mass sales of imports are where the money is, not a few sales of CS guitars, so the CS 'flagship' becomes a lower priority. It's not closing though...

Yup. But as someone already pointed out, you can prolly order it from a USA dealer.

Certainly explains why my Star is slated at 2 years for delivery...

Yep. Mine have been quoted at 18-24 months but I'm told they are now taking action to improve the delivery times - time will tell :-)

They've been around that before. It got much better (sub a year) but now it's right back up there again.
