  • NGD after a 2 year search

I've been searching for a Jackson USA Soloist in Cabo finish for a good 2 years. It seems they only offered it in 2004-2005 or something like that. I'm assuming they discontinued it because it was basically the same as Trans Blue, but a few shades darker.

I search ebay just about every day in hopes that I find one, and I stumbled upon this. While not Cabo, it's almost as good. It's Chlorine! Which is only a Custom Shop or Phil Collen model color. This is from a limited run of 10 in 2003. When I get motivated, the EMG's and the gold hardware are getting switched out. It's not surprising, but the gold finish is tarnishing.

Congrats, looks like a killer guitar. One thing you should do is rotate the locking pads at the nut. The peak should be parallel to the strings.

Nice number 5! Saw that on eBay and was really tempted, but I have #1 of that run so I passed. Killer guitars, the finish is a lot darker in person than it is in the pics.

When you switch out the gold, hit me up, I really need a gold Floyd. Matter of fact, if youre going to black, I may have all the hardware for a swap with you! Hell, if youre going to Duncans in place of the EMG's, I may have those too.

I saw it on ebay too, but I thought it was overpriced. I waited until the auction ended, called the store that was selling it, and got it much cheaper.

While it is darker in person, it is still not as dark as Trans Blue. I had an awesome Trans Blue SL2H that I sold because it was so dark you could barely see the flame maple. I plan on putting chrome hardware on it, not black. I also have Duncan's in my pickup box. I was probably going to go Bare Knuckle or Motor City Pickups.

It needs a cleaning, restring and a good setup besides the locknut pads being rotated.

Congrats. Super-nice flame on the top. I dig that overall color-scheme a lot. I've got a H-S with a similar finish, but with a quilt top.

If I'm not mistaken I think there was also a run of 10 that was put together with this run that were string-thru's with SD pickups.

Damn!!! Awesome guitar...I asked for a quote at TMZ with almost the same specs (minus the EMG's)...

I know it's a matter of taste but I would definitely leave the gold hardware, even though I like the chrome hardware / trans blue combination, I'd rather have it gold...

                  I have 2 trans blue guitars, 2 black's a 1 white...If I had the $$$ they'd all be wearing gold bling by now...

Funny, I just got a quote on one too recently. The price wasn't awful, but I just couldn't bring myself to wait two years and pay that kind of money just for a Soloist with the color I wanted.

In my case the quote was reasonably priced, $2.700 or so before the last price hike (the regular Soloist was around $2.200). I just had bought a KE2 that took 8 months to arrive so I wasn't going to wait for a CS...and I got away with 2 USA's

What was the price of the one you spec'ed??

                      Again great guitar...

Mine was $3200 for a Cabo Soloist with a flame maple top, which wasn't bad. $500 over a stock trans Soloist. But I couldn't fathom spending that kind of coin on a guitar that they could seriously just take a USA Select Soloist and tone down the Trans Blue. $3200 is pretty cheap as far as custom Jackson's go, but I don't want Custom. I just want a USA Select Soloist in a color that they used to offer. Either way, I will continue to search for a Cabo Soloist, but this is a pretty good consolation prize.

Nice... I was gonna email em too, but I didnt wanna get myself in trouble. I think itll look cool with the Chrome too honestly. Either way, Ill still take that Floyd if youd like to sell it.

Nice score! Personally I think it looks pure-class with the gold hardware but silver will look good too!

Enjoy having such an awesome axe
