I like it a lot! Love the reverse matching headstock.

Does that have the JE1200 mid boost?

Built the year that I graduated high school. Very nice!

Very classy, in a cheesy 80's sort of way!

I think I was the first one to ask you to post pictures.

Looks good. Very good shape. I'd suspect that extra knob is for a JE1200 but you never know.

It has the mid boost. 18 volt circuit. Although, one of the battery clips broke and I have it switched to 9 volt now. I plan to switch it back. Sorry DonP, I didn't credit your request. The only real wear it has is the Kahler. I've replaced one bridge saddle that my sweat ate. A little of the black color is coming off on the fine tune knobs. Thank god for Wammi World. I graduated in 1988 too. It was a graduation gift from my dear Grandmother. I had been playing a 1985 Les Paul Standard and a 1972 Strat until I got this. It's been in a closet for most of the last 20+ years. It has a substantial neck on it, which I like a lot. I recently got the fever for the feel of the 80's Jap Charvel's after playing PRS's for the last few years. The Jackson may be back onstage soon.

Very cool - 88 with a Kahler and a locking nut (not string lock) is pretty rare! What's the serial?

When I ordered it, they had just started getting new Jacksons in with the Floyd. I liked the Kahler and ordered it with that. I believe the ebony fingerboard might have been an option also. Serial is J5200. It took over 10 months to come in. Back then (1987-88), Veneman's had a massive selection of Jacksons. All were different custom paint jobs. Perhaps 20 or 30 hanging in the room at one time. I often wonder where all these crazy custom painted guitars ended up. Where are all of the USA Firebird and Tele Jackson's? Veneman's had bunches of them. I liked those two shapes a lot. They seem rare today.

So you ordered it with the locknut that way?

Yes. That's the nut they put on it when I ordered Kahler instead of Floyd.
