I assume that is the kahler nut with the bar across it and the narrow blocks, I believe they were actually native to the "steeler" werent they ?

It's actually the nut and lock down all in one. I've never paid that much attention to it. Says Kahler on the tuner side. The guitar was sent back to the factory around 1990 because of a neck issue. I don't even know what was done to it. It came back perfect. It had a truss rod issue. It didn't get played much after that. I will have to look at some early pictures. The lock nut screws are the same as I always remember them to be. I am so used to messing with Model Series Charvels that the nut on the Jackson seems unfamiliar to me. It's been in storage!

Yup the good ol' "Kahler Floyd nut". I've got a spare in my toolbox. They work fairly well but can be prone to slippage and pulling sharp when locked down. Kahler charges $60 or so for new OEM replacements! All that being said, those are a better match for the Kahler trem than the Floyd version because with a Floyd nut you'd need to hunt down a metric hex key for the nut and an imperial hex key for the trem. That blows! With yours, it is imperial on both ends of the strings.

          Nice snake soloist!

I had a Charvel 3DR with the same Kahler-made locknut, it had the JT-6 floyd. It's hard to tell from the pic, but this style has a string tree built into the locknut. Basically, there are 6 slots that guide the string that would keep the string against the nut. It's not really needed in tilt back headstocks like Jackson, but I 'd think they'd work great with strat style or Ibanez HS so you wouldn't need a stringing tree.

There aren't words sufficient to describe the awesomeness of that guitar. Very nice!

Thanks for the love! It's a great guitar. I need to start taking it out and playing it. I have a Charvel Model 6 that I recently bought. It is going to be my go to guitar for a while. It's basically the same as the Soloist. I can't believe how nice the Model 6 is. It has a Kahler too. It may be the poor man's Soloist, but it is practically identical in quality and features.
