  • Just put my first USA Jackson on layby a RR1?

Its 2nd hand and i'm getting it for a bargain price of AUS$1,000 they usually sell minimum $2k used here in Australia.

    Questions tho:

Its got two humbuckers both have rails would these both be hot rails?

Do the pots usually change roles when u switch pups? Cause the volume pot changes to tone when u change from bridge to neck.

So excciitteedd its in fantastic shape missing its arm but has its case

there are a lot of pickups with rails. Do you know what brand? Best way to tell what they are is to pull them out when you get the guitar and look for markings on the bottom.

No, I've never heard of that. Anything is possible, but don't look for unicorns when it's probably just a horse.

Pickups could be one of the various Bill Lawrence or SD Dimebuckers. Sounds like they weren't wired in properly if the controls change around when you switch. Default RR1 wiring is Volume/Tone/Tone.

What is Layby? Is that Layaway?

My 1995 RR1 in Lightning Sky came OEM with Bill Lawrence USA rail pickups. V-V-T are the controls. No funny stuff with the switch. One volume for the neck pickup, one volume for the bridge. The switch just "picks" with pickup. Of couse with any guitar wired like this, when in the middle, the volume of one pickup always seems to mess with the other. Just the way it is.

My EDS RR1 has Lawrence pups, wired VTT.... i am probally wrong, but without a push pull pot,i don't see how the volume could change the volume to a tone.

A Dimbucker would actually have Dime's signature on it, and thicker rails. Also, was the RR1 always V/T/T? The RR3 and RR5 were V/V/T.

i don't know really Joe. It baffled me a bit at first because I had an RR5 first so I though my RR1 was messed up. Did some light research and found out that's how the USA's were supposed to be wired. I don't know why they do the USA's and imports different.

Very weird. Anyway, when I got my RR1T from Randy, he only had it wired for one volume, but I had it rewired for V/V/T.
