When did Jackson use poplar, and on which models?

I haven't read anything about the 80s' guitars, but from what I have read, the USA soloists from 90-95 (or so) were poplar.

Does anyone know if all models were made of poplar then? Fusion, Rhoads, Dinky, Kelly, King V?

Also, does anyone know for sure what year they switched over to alder?

    Just curious, thanks.

Most of the 90's guitars were poplar. I'm not sure which models weren't. I have no idea when they switched...

They switched back an forth simply due to the cost of wood. As one wood type runs out, it's price goes up. So then they switch to the other.

            Thanks guys.

I've got a 90 Rhoads and a 92 fusion and I've always wondered if they were poplar...

Most MIJ PRO models* and most USA Selects from 1990 - 1998 were poplar.

Thanks Ron. Didn't realize it was as late as 98...

And of course the custom shop will use it any time you want. I ordered Poplar on my 24 fret CS Rhoads after playing my PCS Rhoads. I liked the PCS so much that I ordered the CS the same way including small fret wire. The only deviation was no fret end binding (nibs). This was in 1998.

I ordered a Chery Sunburst KV with poplar wings a few years ago, that Shadowcat now owns. I like the tone and weight of poplar just a little better than alder, it could just be my imagination though.

Poplar can vary a lot in weight. My '94 Dinky HX and the old Model 6 I had were both poplar. The Dinky is extremely light. The Model 6 was kinda heavy. Alder and poplar do sound similar, but I've always preferred alder a little more.
