  • DK1 headstock binding question.

I just got a Jackson DK1 and the headstock seems odd to me. It's bound, but the black overlay goes over the top of the binding and you would almost think it's not bound by looking at the face of the headstock. Is this common?

    That's odd.
You should be able to see the binding from the front.

Can you post a cleaner front view photo containing the whole headstock?

Holly sh*t! That's freaking weird! Where is the binding? Why it is hiding?

It's weird. Like did the person painting it have a rough morning and spray over the entire headstock or did they forget to scrape the binding? It's obviously just cosmetic, and doesn't look offputting, it's just weird that you can't see the binding from the front.

That must have happened! It's about how much it bothers you.. If i were you i would send the guitar back to Jackson to replace the neck, thankfully it's a DK1. I don't know if these things can be made, at least i would try..

I actually got it used from Guitar Center, so I doubt that it could go back to Jackson. It's actually a really nice guitar. Flawless otherwise. I do have the option of returning it if it does bother me too much.

It's an Agent Orange model, so what, 2008 or newer?

I know. DK1's aren't too common to begin with and when you do see them, they are usually black.

I don't like them in black. I remember when i was younger one of the reasons i fell in love with Jackson was the variety of cool finishes the offered! I never wanted a total black Jackson.. Mine has the lightning sky finish.

looks like they taped it a bit deep when they were spraying the headstock. If it plays awesome, I wouldn't give it another thought. The issue is only cosmetic & it doesn't look bad at all. From your position (playing it) you can still see the binding.

It's not a big deal because it's still well done. It doesn't have any fuzzy or crooked lines or whatever. The only way I will return or sell the guitar is if I don't jive with it.
