I used a 37mm, but I had to take a dremel to the spring area to sink the springs into the trem block. Took like 5 seconds to make the channels because the brass is soft.

So 37mm + springs into the block will barely hit the backplate.

37mm with springs sunk into the trem block = nice big tone.

So...Do you leave the Plate on then? If so how noticeable is it in the arm when the spring block and back plate contact?
        Curious. Thanks.

Yes, I keep the plate on.

I didn't use the trem when the springs were hitting the backplate. As soon as I saw the contact, I used a dremel tool to cut slots in the 37mm block where the springs go so that they don't "poke out the bottom" of the trem block. If you were to look at the side, the springs would be flush with the bottom of the trem block. This gives me the clearance I need so that I can use the Floyd without hitting the backplate.

The factory block should be a 32.
