Interesting options for sure. However, I cannot see Absinthe Frost, Agent Orange, Kawasabi Green Or October Pearl on that list, unless of course they're named differently!
Finally, Ferrari Red and Metallic Purple WR1s with reversed matching headstocks are somehow within reach! Darn it, why I have to be so broke!-Metal wouldn't be the same without Pointy guitars-

My guess is some more options may become available next year, depending on demand.

Sounds like some of you guys are assuming that, if it's an easy option for them to do, why wouldn't they do it? I suspect there were more factors going into the decision-making of what options were offered, and which weren't.
For example, they may have DQ'd some options just because they weren't very popular. Sure, it may not be any harder to do black binding vs. standard ivoroid. But, if it's not very popular and few people actually order it, why bother to offer it?
Assuming the build quality is there, the custom select route is going to be great. But it won't ever be all things to all people. That's what a full custom shop order is for. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy it for it is, and take advantage of that as much as possible.

P.S. - I wonder if many folks - especially those who may not have ordered a custom Jackson before - don't realize how much money the custom select route can save them vs a full custom shop order. I mean, if you can fit your guitar order within the box of options offered, the cost savings can be huge! In many respects, this is like getting custom shop pricing from like 10-plus years ago!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not to mention an approximate delivery time of 120 days vs. 18-24 months.

Matt, how long does a 'standard' USA select take to reach a customer?"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

I was just thinking about the people who want maple fretboards with black binding and black inlay. I'm not a maple fan, so it doesn't really apply to me, but I would have thought that it would have been an option.
And I have my order in for a fairly plain DK1 and I'm about as happy as can be. The only thing that would make it better is if I could get HSS or H/S with a slanted neck pickup, but it's not a deal breaker for me and something I'm not going to wait two years for.Last edited by snowblind56; 02-05-2013, 07:31 PM.

It wasn't an option, but apparently there was enough pressure for them to add it. Either that or it was just an oversight..Popular is not the same as good
