USA Custom Select - your thoughts?

If they offer too many custom select options, almost nobody will be ordering customs, especially for the $1-3k price difference. It's a great idea now, where the CS is supposedly backed up to nearly 1000 orders... when the backlog drops to a couple of hundred, Fender might re-evaluate this.

We'll see I guess. The CS 'backlog' delivery time has been over a year for as long as I can remember, so they're gonna have to A: catch up a lot, B: change their processes and C: hire more people if they're really gonna make a change...

How long does it actually take them to make the guitar though? The real backlog is only about 12-16 months until the build starts. If true CS orders dry up because of a flood of Select Customs, it won't take more than 9 months before something would have to change, at least from my perspective. We all have a good idea of how things work there. I don't really see this lasting more than a year and probably much less. Oh well, I've been wrong before.

An SL2H or WR1 in snow white with maple board/black sharkfins and reversed headstock (painted to match body) would be a nice idea. I suspect the maple board would push it into full custom pricing though.

Nope, maple fretboard is available for a whopping $25 extra.

I'm ready to order right now damnit, but I also want to wait just in case h/s becomes an option. If I know it's not gonna happen for a while, I'll go ahead with 'plan-b' now, but I'd hate to order something and have them add a ton more options 2 weeks after I get it...
