    • One thing I don't understand, is why is maple and rosewood an upcharge from ebony?

Because ebony is standard on Jackson guitars and maple and rosewood is not

This was brought up in one of the other threads too. I'll say the same thing I posted there, I'm not complaining. Just ask the Gibson fans about ebony and I'm sure they'd like to have it back on their Les Paul Customs! We are lucky Jackson offers it as standard on their high end guitars.

            • I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone's guitars when they arrive. Maybe the first person here who has theirs arrive can start a picture thread? I wound up going through a different dealer than originally planned but my new SL2H Custom Select order is now official and deposit made on 2/22. I'm excited!

              • I'd love to get a DK1 with a Bengal finish, with matching headstock, a maple fretboard, some passive Seymour Duncans and I'd make the logo Red just to stand out a tad more, if money wasn't an issue I'd be ordering one right now.

                • Hmmm. Just got to wondering about something... Will these guitars have U serial numbers? Or J serials? Or maybe something new, like C serials?

                  • I'll put money on them being U

                    • Still want to bet that money?

BTW, I got word that my first order is already getting painted. Wow.

I was at the CS this past Friday and met with Kurt Walton (and Mike Shannon too).

I was told that J S/N's will be used for custom select and they will also have "Custom Shop" on the head stock.

                          Dang! That is fast...

Might have to spec one out if its something I can actually recieve in my lifetime...

Winner-winner, chicken dinner! That's exactly what I just heard, as well.

Well, "into paint" can mean anything from a few weeks out to being done, up to a few months. Depends on what the paint will be. To be this far along already is pretty dang impressive, though.

                            • Yeah, pretty much one of the first questions I asked was about the serial prefix. I could live happily without the Custom Shop logo on the head, but it wasn't a deal breaker..

                              • +1. Always thought it was something better addressed on the back of the headstock. I just prefer the cleaner appearance without it. Same with artist sigs. Not a deal breaker by any means, though.
