USA Custom Select - your thoughts?

[QUOTE=snowblind56;1568735]On the Custom Select page on the Jackson website, "Special Edition Pink" is listed on the color options.
According to a Jackson rep, "Special Edition Pink" was only available on soloists for that specific limited edition of 10 instruments. It is shown on the color chart, but they won't build you another soloist in that color.

That's kind of cool. Probably why it has the "Special Edition" moniker. I'd like to see the Platinum Pink and Special Edition Pink next to each other to see the differences.

I was planning on placing an order in a couple of months but I may have to hold off for some time. I'm dying to be part of the USA club.
I hadn't taken into account our import tax over here. As i've never bought anything over a grand before I haven't had to pay it.
With shipping, $3500 will probably pass $4500. Any suggestions?

Some people get the seller to under-declare the value to save on the tax, but A: that leaves you under-insured, and B: is illegal...Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

That's tecnhically untrue, since you'll lose half the value once the axe leaves the shop
(But I don't think the IRS will buy that excuse)"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

"....crap!"

WELL... my Special Edition Pink SL1 arrived today!!!
My first impression...?
Quality.
The limited "introduction runs" on display at NAMM and on Jackson's own website were the first Custom Selects to be built, so they should hopefully give some idea of what the rest of the production guitars should be like.
It plays really nice with great action on a superb feeling neck and great fretboard binding. Love the Duncan pickups. The color is kind of a reddish pink, (color is very closely captured on Jackson's own website photo), versus the usual platinum pink which is more of a light pearl.
I believe I have the specific one that was on display at NAMM as it comes with the little display card that was on the guitar during the show. I do seem to be missing the Jackson Custom Shop Certificate though...does anyone have a photo of what this document looks like? (Please post a photo?)
The only companies that seem to be really making quality new guitars these days are Jackson/Charvel and ESP...("mainstream" companies that is...if I was to also add the smaller custom companies, I'd mention GMP and Moser...)Last edited by WYLDCHYLD; 06-01-2013, 03:42 AM.

He 's referring to a custom shop certificate, not the hangtag. There is one on the right in the picture below.

I've seen them before in pictures, but haven't ever received one with a custom shop guitar (even the one I ordered new and built to my specs). I could be wrong on this, but I don't think they are created for every custom shop guitar.
