Where the street prices for the same guitar are currently about $2400-$2700!

I'm just wondering if the new CS Select prices will start at the MSRP level or not!
    Not really.
It's comparable with other manufacturers guitars.
An Les Paul standard is 3499 msrp. A Historic 59 is 5174.

Are you saying that Jackson build quality is lesser?

    Nobody pays msrp anyway.

No, I think Jackson is a top quality manufacturer in my book, but if I call a dealer and ask for a Custom Select guitar and tells me that the MSRP is the base (not street), that's more like a CS range already! Now if the dealer tells me it's going to be $2200 and up, I'll be fine with that.

So if I wanted a quilted top on WR1 with one single hum and a reversed headstock, I'm looking at $4000+ range? Still too steep for me...
MRSP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. Discounts come after that, so depending on the dealer, 3200 MRSP will be more like 2400 or whatever.

But if you read the thread, pickup config changes and rev heads aren't currently part of the Custom Select options. And neither is a maple top on a Warrior. So you're shit out of luck and into full custom territory anyway...

Now that's more like it, at least I have the option of more colors and hardware without selling a body part.

I'm not in a hurry, I can wait until they implement more options down the road. If Carvin can do it, why not Jackson! Honestly, it's not just the CS prices that kill it for me (probably I can go around it somehow), it's mostly the waiting time, a two years wait just drives me nuts!

Seriously, how does anyone even think this would lead to cheaper prices?

Most of the crew I've dealt with will give you 2 prices.
The MSRP from the quote sheet and their price after discounts.

I don't think I've seen a dealer that has said MSRP is the price and that's it.

Now, I don't know where you are and maybe there are differences overseas, but, that's how it has worked for me so far.

I have been on the fence on ordering a CS because of the wait. You have to accept the fact that it is what it is. They are quoting 2 years. If you want a CS order and wait. The Custom Shop Select is nice because you don't have to wait that long. You don't get all the options. But you get quite a few. More so than we got in this century. Anytime you wanted to make a small change you went to full Custom Shop prices. Jackson's cost what they cost. That hasn't been a secret. From looking at the list I think they really tried to give people a lot of options. For me, I am ordering two guitars. One Custom Shop Select and one Custom Shop.

If you have a relationship with a dealer you'll know what your real price will be. If you don't, then call a dealer and find out what they would charge you.

Well, neither did I, however since we're dealing with a "CS" here, I thought MSRP could be the starting point without the street discount, which I'm glad is not the case here...

I live in SF CA where thrash was holy, however I'm not too familiar with how CS totally works, other than what I've experienced with my AO WR1 as described a few posts up.

Again, thanks for the clarification, and I do have a relationship with CMCguitars, where I've ordered my WR1s from. I also might set up a new CS Select order when money is ready, and see what my options are.

MSRP is the full retail price of the item. Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price.

Any base price will be MSRP. I'm certain options will either be free or add to that MSRP.

MSRP isn't what you'll pay unless you're stupid.

Most dealers sell for 70-80% of MSRP. So you total up all your options, which would be full MSRP and then apply whatever discount the dealer is willing to give you, and that's your purchase price.

That would be an excellent idea if the goal was to kill the Jackson brand. The market in the 80s and the market in 2013 are two TOTALLY different things.

This is a great bridge between the Select and full Custom Shop lines. I really don't see any downsides to it other than maybe a shortage of options, but sounds like that might get better with time.

Agreed. I can deal without somethings, but color selection is huge for me. I like purples and greens and such and this fills that void for me.Plus I think many more people would do this instead of a full blow custom, wich frees up the custom shop a little more and give people more choices. Its very exciting really

                                Hi Matt,
Are there any color samples available?
Some of the list, we have no description what the actual colors are.
