An SL2H or WR1 in snow white with maple board/black sharkfins and reversed headstock (painted to match body) would be a nice idea. I suspect the maple board would push it into full custom pricing though.Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

How long does it actually take them to make the guitar though? The real backlog is only about 12-16 months until the build starts. If true CS orders dry up because of a flood of Select Customs, it won't take more than 9 months before something would have to change, at least from my perspective. We all have a good idea of how things work there. I don't really see this lasting more than a year and probably much less. Oh well, I've been wrong before.
You may see a slimmer set of options as time goes by though. Guess it depends on if this increases sales and doesn't delay production.
Though, I would wonder why even bother making runs of Standard Selects as they are somewhat redundant with the new Custom Select Options. Might make sense to have open windows for orders and then close them to make runs every 3-4 mos.Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day, set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I honestly think they will sell more guitars this way. Right now, I wait for unique color Soloists to pop up on ebay and then I have to duke it out auction style. Now, I have like 50 colors to choose from, which will make me order new ones in the color I want. I'm sure others are in the same boat I am.
To keep from cutting into custom shop sales, they need to keep the options limited.

The guitars are otherwise stock configuration. The build time of a custom is from start to finish including wood work. I highly doubt a Select Custom can be delivered in several months. It takes a couple months just for paint... They don't ship instruments that haven't had decent curing time...
The options that they let you change are/should be minimal enough that they won't add much, if any time to the build process. I would assume that's why they aren't offering different pickup routes. And I'm not going to argue with the time frame. I'll believe it if/when my DK1 arrives in 4 months.
