Newc, I suspect your understanding of Jackson's sales and marketing decisions may be only as good as your recollection of my custom shop orders. Which is to say, not very good. LOL

For the record, I have ordered several custom shop guitars through the years. To the best of my recollection, exactly ONE was screwed up. And, even then, the custom shop did a great job on the guitar itself. However, it was damaged in shipping and -more importantly - Jackson's lengthy and inadaquate service in rectifying the issue came up woefully short. Hard to blame the custom shop guys for that. In any event, Jackson eventually did a major mea culpa, and made things right for me. So props are definitely due there.

Otherwise, exactly none have been "fucked up". That's just a bizzare statement. All of my custom shop guitars have been absolutely great.

Camo soloist with incorrect logo
Blood splatter KV with incorrect nut and oiled neck
Charvel with bowed birdseye neck
white KV with wrong logo, then rebuilt with wrong control layout

the Camo soloist was a sweet idea, Jackson version of Hanneman's ESP, which itself is based on a soloist!!

I actually think the end build of all of those guitars (apart from the bowed neck) were really cool. But not what was ordered.

My first two ordered customs were really fucked up and not what I ordered/specified. After that, I haven't placed any orders till the end of last year. From what I have been promised from everyone is that my new customs will be done right, and I've even specified regular build verification for each step of the build process to make sure it doesn't happen again. But, then again, all of my customs have been really special orders with probably too much spec'd out. I dunno. *knock on wood*

I'll jump in on this one. I ordered my Extreme Warrior through Jason at DC/GL. However, he's stopped doing Jackson CS orders. He's seen lots of things go wrong with custom orders and decided it wasn't worth the hassle (and, of course, the fact that mine is being rebuilt sort of backs up his story).

Since he's out, I have a 2nd order for a 7 string Soloist through Matt at Matt's Music. He hasn't lost the faith in the CS and is quick to turn around quotes. Maybe a positive attitude will lead to a postive outcome on that one?

Oh no i wasn't asking because i thought he was at fault or anything; he definitely has a great reputation around here; i was just curious. If i get around to ordering a CS i'd see if Matt could take the order.

If you guys didnt see my other post. I talked to Chris Cannella last night and he said they ARE still taking orders for the Custom Select line. Also the reason for the fast turn sround is because the bodys have all mostly been built. They just need to be put together and painted. Im guessing thats why no pup or non trem options yet

Matt's business has grown quite a bit. Matt doesn't hand off CS orders to a sales rep, he handles them himself. He's also willing to work for that order, and by that, I mean he's willing to fight for options that you're not supposed to get or generally aren't allowed. And you're likely not going to get a better price either, unless you work at or have some nepotistic connection at a music store that can order for you.
