    Hey Mark!

Yeah, still loving the holoflake. I'll be honest, I bought it for the paintjob, but I have to admit that it's also one of my favorite players. Great feel to it, and it's my favorite sounding alder soloist I've got. My other guitars have been feeling neglected the last couple months!

Can't thank you enough for making it possible for me to check that one off the wishlist.

LOL! Sucker! I bet it doesn't look anything like that in real life. Photo enhanced with a long eposure or something.

Do you mean the finish? Those are actually pretty accurate picture of what the finish looks like...

It is authentic, I had one but the finish lifts up due to so much flake. That one is super clean though. Looks like it sold for for $2200
I like black and white guitars

I've seen black metal flake soloist new before (newer models), so I'll take your word for it if you say these older ones really look like that in real life.

Metal flake is different from holoflake, actually it's a completely different animal. Each piece of holoflake is a prism that creates any color in the rainbow depending on how the lights hits it. Holoflake guitars really do look more like a rainbow of color than a black guitar. It's not older vs newer models, it's that holoflake is a different finish than the black metal flake you are referring to.

Put it this way, I would never own a black guitar (metal flake included), but I spent over a decade looking for a holoflake in good condition.

Yeah, Holoflake looks exactly like the photos the guy posted, and he posted lots of them to show the condition...I almost pulled the trigger myself because it was so clean...

Were you the high bidder this time?

                          If so, congrats!

That's factory! My buddy Jim had a holoflake soloist just like it. The finish on those guitars was incredible when you actually saw it in person. My same friend also had a glow in the dark soloist that had Curly from the three stooges painted on it as well.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Yup...I'm usually mostly a BC Rich and San Dimas Charvel guy, (and ESP...and Kramer...and Ibanez...), but figured it was time to pick up my first Soloist...
I always loved this paint job from the factory, (what can I say, I like flashy paints, colors and graphics that scream '80s hair bands...), and it's hard to find, not to mention (since it's been mentioned before), some of the '90s ones had clear coat issues, and this one seems to have perfect paint with no issues (and the guy posted like 20 photos to prove it). I almost bought it the first time it was up, but as fate would have it, a non-paying bidder gave me a second crack at it...
